Title: From Dusk Till Dawn
Post by: angry.bob on May 05, 2014, 06:15:34 AM
Yeah, I know. Believe it or not this is a really good show. I's put it just below Hannibal, just above or equal too Game of Thrones, and well above the last couple of seasons of Walking Dead. So far it's been retelling the story from the movie, but with a lot more plot and character development added. It's on the seventh episode no and it's at the point where the vampires kill all the people at the club. I was expecting it to be pretty shitty. I thought the movie was okay but nothing great except for Salma Hayek dancing.

The acting, writing, and directing has been top notch so far - with a few, occasional exceptions. Especially good are the two guys playing the Gecko brothers as well as the girl playing Katie.

It's on the lite side of marginally gory and there's only been about 10 seconds of naked boob in one episode. If you haven't watched it yet give it a try. You'll know in the first 30 minutes or so if you'll like the rest of the series.

I'm enjoying this immensely. Just be sure to get the Netflix version, not the edited for TV one.

Takes some really interesting side trips in fleshing out the characters of the movie, and adds a couple new characters to round things out. Actually tries to work Richie's insanity into the plot, instead of just being a crazy role Tarantino wrote for himself. The casting is all over the place and a little hit and miss, but I'm loving watching Fez as a bad guy. The girl playing Satanico lacks the "it" of a Salma Hayak once she opens her mouth unfortunately, but several of the other roles are great.

Wait, what? It's not on my Netflix. What market is that has them?

I can confirm it's on UK Netflix.

I find it OK, not great, but not terrible either.

Yup, it's on Netflix for the rest of the planet, only on El Ray here in the US. Apparently it was also renewed for a season 2 right after the second episode. That should be interesting since it looks like the content based on the movie will be done at the end of this season. maybe they'll have Seth and Katie wandering around the countryside killing people for roast chicken while Katie sullenly plots her revenge.

This just turned up on Netflix a day or so ago.  Finally.  I've seen a couple of episodes now and I like it so far.  Seth Gecko is om nom nom.

The guy that plays Seth does a really good job of channeling Clooney imo.

I watched this over the weekend it and then re-watched the movie for the first time in 10 years.

It was fine, but I was disappointed by the shifts in the story.  It lacked the over the top insanity of QT's script, even though it rehashed a lot of it.  There were a lot of awkward fits in the story that just did not work for me.

The biggest takeaway for me is fear about how the Evil Dead TV series might pan out...
