They really need to remake Annie, where she's a machine gun wielding prostitute and Sam Jackson can be Warbucks da Pimp.

I, Frankenstein could not be a more fitting name for this shit.

Shame Eckhart and Nighy are awesome and Yvonne Stahovski is so hot.

I will not pay for this movie, but I will watch it.

I will not pay for this movie, but I will watch it.

That sums up every movie I see on these boards... mainly because I am a cheap fucker and my gf lives in another timezone.

This movie - looks like a fun watch, much like Underworld and Van Helsing.

Does not make sense.

Does this mean Eckhart drew the short straw somewhere and now is the new Christopher Lambert?

Yes. Thank You for Smoking was his Highlander.

When I think of Frankenstein's Monster, I think action hero!

Ironically probably more true to the original book than any of the Frankenstein movies I've ever seen - he can talk!

It's coming in January which is never a good sign. I'll probably catch it on cable/netflix. It looks like it could be fun to watch but I'm expecting something more akin to Van Helsing which blew a great oppurtunity than Underworld which I enjoyed, fuck you beret wearing art critics!

I kind of liked Branagh's version. I think DeNiro was the monster

The first Underworld is a genuinely good movie.

I think Underworld is a pretty fantastic movie considering the subject matter. It gets silly with the action sequences but it's gravely serious with its characters and world building. The latter manages to really raise the stakes: this isn't about evil or any ethical non-sense, this is survival. Probably my favourite action movie.

Nighy and Strahovski need to find better agents. As for Eckhart, he's basically Christopher Lamert without the squint, right?

Maybe in some of his choices but I think Eckhart is a good actor. I quite liked him in Dark Knight and Battle Los Angeles for example.

I suppose I'm missing the point by saying that Frankenstein was not the name of the monster but the scientist? The Monster only referred to himself as "I Am the Adam of your labours" but otherwise had no name. I'll take the pedantic award now...

His name is "Frankenstein's Monster".  Sort of like the Indian practice of your father's first name becoming your last name.  "Frankenstein" is just a nickname.  Sort of like saying, "Joe" instead of "Josef Stalin".

Yes, I am amusing myself.  NO, I don't care if I'm amusing anyone else.

This will be horrible for a lot of reasons. Because it's Frankenstien's monster fighting an army of shapeshifting gargoyles in league with other shapeshifting gargoyles. But mostly because Frankenstien's monster shouldn't ever be hotter than 9 out of 10 guys who are still alive, let alone stitch back together from corpse parts. When Frankenstien's monster walks through a club and club girls starre at him, it shouldn't be because they're trying to picture what his frankencock is like.

Also, take some other sorts of roles Nighy you're doing way to much of this unique voice monster guy stuff.

Is Nighy playing the vampire lord in this?   Is this linked to the Underworld universe?  Is there anyone who cares about that?

Saw the previews.  Meh.  Might catch it on TNT one night.

I understand movie makers need to grab people with the name, but co-opting Frankenstein for this was just totally unnecessary.  We have all probably read the book.  It is a book about loneliness.  This movie just should not have happened under this name.

We have all read the book, it is a story about a father and son, and the difficulty of trying to find yourself when your father won't let you be your own man.

Be honest, this has about as much to do with Frankenstein as "I, Robot" had to do with that book

If this is Eckhart's The Hunted, I'll call it a win.

The guy who wrote it is the guy who wrote Underworld, the big black dude with the absurdly low voice who plays one of the Werewolves in the first Underworld.

This is the worst movie I've seen since Cloud Atlas.  I like CGI effect movies as much as anyone but this was awful.  Story.  Acting.  Dialogue.  All awful.  I wouldn't see it again even if it was free.

What I liked most about this movie was Yvonne aka Miranda from ME 2 was once again playing a character with similar  activities.

The ability to look goddamned amazing in skintight "leather" and fuck like a bunny?

(I didn't find Miranda a useful character other than that)

I had no idea that dude was also the writer, neat!

The guy who wrote it is the guy who wrote Underworld, the big black dude with the absurdly low voice who plays one of the Werewolves in the first Underworld.

I watched this on Netflix last night, and I immediately thought, "Wow, did someone take the Underworld script and make it about demons and gargoyles and set Frankenstein's Monster in the middle of their struggles."  I then thought, why the fuck did all these decent actors sign up for this piece of shit. Then I realized they had probably all signed multi-picture deals that were about to expire and the studio threw them into it.
