Title: Self Found
Post by: Xanthippe on June 15, 2013, 08:10:07 PM
Does hardcore make you cry, but you find normal D3 too boring? The solution:

Self-found!

It's all the rage.

I might give it a go at some point. I cannot bear the thought of hardcore. I would most certainly never play again if I lost a character in Inferno due to a internet glitch.

Once the long promised itemization patch goes in though, I might give it a shot. I do enjoy the auction house game (the gold one not the real money one) a bit though. I've parlayed my 1.3 million into 27 million in a couple weeks. (Not working hard enough at it!)

Does doing so involve the ironic wearing of large plastic framed glasses?

I played self found until 58, at which time I bought a main/off hand combo for 25k that quadrupled my dps.  It's fun in theory, but once the upper ranks come, then it's all about the AH.

Yes. It will be an interesting test of the itemization patch.

Maybe it would work better on the upcoming console version.

Yeah, when your dps goes up to 14,000 from 1,500 in one small purchase long before 60, you pretty much don't ignore the AH again.

I'm more or less doing "self found" on my monk right now.  It sure is fun running around with a pair of level 30 weapons when I am 45.

That's why I don't want to do it until the itemization patch. Normal and the first part of nightmare levels would be ok. After that, painful. The memory of hitting the Inferno wall after release despite using the AH to buy the best items I could for my witch doctor and then my monk are still too fresh.
