Except it's like it isn't, since only very few seem to be able to enter. (NOT) fun fact: I've been hammering my keyboard typing my password in like a machine for thirty minutes straight (and counting), and I am still not in. Amused, my partner walks to her computer, tries for no more than 4 minutes, gets in, and is now happily playing while smirking and giggling at my queued ass.

Tis broke on launch day! Oh no :) did anyone actually expect it to work tonight?

Honestly, yes. I was expecting queues at worst. But absolute inability to get in? No.

Having played MMOG's since the start of UO I am now so jaded that you could mount me on a bracelet. I actually think I would miss all the forum fun if it all just 'worked'. My inability to care is further convincing me that I am getting far to old for this.

What's sad is you can't even play solo.   :oh_i_see:

It's because I played all MMOG's since the start of UO that I was expecting to get in. That was 15 years ago, and since then I haven't been kept out of an authentication login on launch day much. Oh wait, maybe Age of Conan now that I think of it. You know, Funcom and Blizzard, same thing :why_so_serious:

One thing I've learned from just about any Blizzard release/beta/server opening/etc - copy your password so you can just ctrl-V and spam that with the enter key. Much faster than typing a password out

Then you (like me) must know that this is part of the experience! It is customary to navigate to the official forums and threaten to sue then engage in arguments with other frustrated players. I am going to bed, let me know how that turns out

So when does this go live in the US? Is it time zone based, or midnight PST no matter where you live?

A speed run group in Korea has finished it already :)

Quote
A group of Koreans did a speed run and have already finished the game, took 6 hours 25 minutes.

Which is a good sign, 6.5 hours rushing it as fast as they could means it should be a decent length for those of us who play at regular speeds. That was only normal difficulty too.

EDIT: subsequent runs have been much shorter, they've already beaten Hell difficulty and are about to finish Act 1 on Inferno!

Where did you get this info? Am quite curious  - can you link the thread?

Sadly not, or I would have. It's someone in my gaming guild and the forum is protected.

The only public mention I can find is this (http://slumz.boxden.com/f13/diablo-iii-normal-difficulty-koreans-have-completed-sp-mode-under-4-5-hours-1752967/).

I am shocked, SHOCKED, that Koreans already finished it.

It appears that I have acquired too much old for late night game launches. A friend and I spent 20 mins trying to login and then we both decided we were too tired and gave up!

This morning however I logged in fine :)

I am slightly surprised they are managing to do inferno. The scaling up of health and damage on that difficulty is utterly insane and even though gamers always beat developers I'd thought t would take a couple of days of farming first.

How long does a Diablo 2 speed run take?

I like the new guy.

If you mean me, I am not new, I am just so old that most of you are to young to remember me on every MMOG forum since the dawn of time

I did actually get in last night, created a char then promptly when to bed with a big bag of bothered.

Well, I imagine they'll run into issues towards the end. Blizzard originally made inferno to be as hard in act 1 as it was in act 4, then they decided to make it a more regular curve. So by the time they get to the last act I imagine their under-leveled under-geared speedrun characters will be dying. A lot.

Yeah, I knew there was no way I was doing a 3am est launch.

However, along with "can't stay up any later" of old comes the "wake up a lot earlier and be fine" aspect.   So instead of staying up until 3am and then being dead (In addition to not being able to login) I woke-up at 4:50, got ready for work then played.

Woo, old age!

I feel like falling asleep now and I only stayed up until 1am - I really am a geriatric gamer. I will give it a bloody good go later, if I can login, still not holding out much hope on that front - figure the odds are about the same as Funcom making a game that's fun.

Should be quite a crowded evening here in Europe (7.30pm CET now): we'll see how the login server will handle it. Lots of people probably purchased it this morning or while on their way back home from work, eager to try out the game for the first time.

Twitter says they are bringing the servers down for an emergency fix- should be back up within an hour (more like 30 minutes now). I don't think they took them all down at once, so YMMV.

Emergency Fix. I wonder if it's for the templar bug or maybe we've already got item duping!

I think I saw an item dup while shuffling stuff between my stash and inventory (a white piece of armor -- ended up with two identical somehow) earlier.  No clue how it happened.  Haven't tried to reproduce it.

Well, I got in and played a Demon Hunter up to lvl 10 - I didn't play beta so it is all new to me, so far I am impressed. See how quickly I forgot the server issues?

Lots of difficulties as predicted, but hey, login bottleneck will exhaust itself over time...right?

Err, just to be safe, I've haven't logged out from the game since 6.30pm (and they haven't booted me out either :P)
