This is also a reminder that, as of this post, we're eight days from the start of the early launch window.

And still no email indicating what day pre-orders can start playing per the "based on the day you redeemed your code" thing.  It just tells me they don't know what to do, or aren't ready, or lost a number of pre-order code registration dates, or have such lop-sided pre-registration that they might as well just let everyone in on the 15th, or (most likely) someone had it on their to-do list and forgot about it or thought someone else was supposed to send out the emails... :)

Probably worried they're going to misclick again and send everyone "Thank you for ordering and you can start on the 15th!" even if they didn't preorder ;)

I was champing for an email firming up the early access date, but I just blew my floating holiday babysitting the plumbers. So I'll be working through early access anyway, doesn't matter anymore.

Or the early access thing was a rouse to get more pre-orders and everyone is starting on the 15th.

NVM.

If you participated in our Game Testing Program before November 25th, we recommend that you uninstall the game testing client (refer to instructions below) and then download and install the launch game client. We’ll update this post with more instructions when they’re available. You will need 27GB of free space to install the launch game client. The actual size of the game client is approximately 19GB (without additional languages installed).

If you have played in our game testing program at any point from November 25th onwards, you will not need to re-install the game client, as you should already have the launch version installed.

...and many Bothans will die

I rewatched the originalreal SW movie trilogy a couple of weeks ago and was struck by the depth of emotion displayed by the woman who delivers that line. Perhaps there was a whole story/scene that went with that. No other moment of grief in the entire series seems as sincere as that one.

Hell, all Leia says about Alderaan is "We have no time for our sorrows now, General." It's almost like she's thinking something along the lines of "Well, at least I don't have to worry about my mortgage any more. And I never have to see that ugly carpet in my cousin's apartment again."

Unfair comparison.  The actress that played Mon Mothma, Caroline Blakison, had been in numerous TV/film productions years prior to the first Star Wars film even being a thought in George Lucas' fat head.  Carrie Fisher on the other hand, was in the same boat as Mark Hamill, in that their acting careers prior to Star Wars was basically jack shit.  So it should come as no surprise when a seasoned pro can pull off the seriousness required to play a part, no matter how small a part it may be.

Now sit down, shut up, or gods help me I'll turn this starship around and ground you for eternity!

I wasn't trying to direct quote... more using Bothans as a reference funny. Meh... hell with it.

And what the fuck is all this uninstall, install bullshit. I was in the 11-11 crew and uninstalled right after the weekend beta. Reinstalled for the 11-25 beta weekend and read it would be patched up unlike the 11-11. So fine, I already did that and had the 11-25 version. Now I got an email last week telling me I had to uninstall the game in order to install the correct version. Jeezus christ make up your god damn minds. Just for that, I am building a new PC and not installing the client till the 20th. That'll teach em.

You didn't read the other thread about not deleting your game client, did you?  If you have the 11/25 client, you're good to go.

Umm, I believe I stated that I did and was aware the 11-25 install was good to go, but was emailed by SWTOR last week telling me I had to uninstall the client I currently had. Probably got lost in all that text I wrote.

Right, and in the other thread, we talked about how Reid put a FAQ up on the forums about the email, clarifying how everything was going down.

At least in my case, I got the email a week after the statement that we could patch the final client. So it was unclear if they had changed policy a second time.

It's because each beta is considered separate to them.  I got weekend invites even though I had been in full-time for months.  They sent the e-mail to anyone from an earlier beta (or maybe just everyone).

Leia is a badass and had shit to deal with, she could cry later.

Leia is a badass and had shit to deal with, she could cry later.

But she never does. At least not that we see on screen. She barely gets through her doubts about Solo in RotJedi without so much as a sigh. And news that Darth Vader is her father leaves her about as horror stricken as learning he used to masturbate to wookie porn. Maybe less.

Of course she's a badass -- "Some rescue!" -- and all that stuff -- as she hefts the blaster and deals some whoop-ass on the approaching armored troops while wearing nothing but a silk bathrobe and hair-buns.

Again, though, the delivery of the line about the Bothans just left me wondering what the whole story was. I made up that someone in her own family had died -- perhaps a brother, or son. And then I started wondering what life was like for every member of the rebel alliance who wasn't Han or Leia or Luke... and how much time and effort went in to setting up places like the base on Hoth only to have to abandon it just as it gets operational. This is what happens to my mind when my empathy implant is left charging too long overnight.

Yeah. It needs more gay. We could say the line about "have you seen her mother" refers to Debbie Reynolds as she appeared in "Connie and Carla" (one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies). I wasn't sure if it was actually her or one of the drag queens around her.

And speaking of gay sex (you said "sucks") ... the recent indie-awarded movie "Weekend" is intense and well done. The guys are not plastic Hollyood models but they're still heartbreaking and hot (even if they are depicted as cokeheads). :heartbreak:

My patcher is showing a "pre-order now for early access!" ad.

Clearly trying to instill the sense of paranoia and doubt.

Not sure. I've been firing up the patcher every day since end of beta and every day there seems to be a new update.  It's almost like there's still in-house testing going on last minute.
I've never gotten an 11GB dl though, not even cumulatively.  Matter of fact, my app-size is still about 18.5GB.
