Title: Dev Diary: Instances 2.0 Post by: Yegolev on July 21, 2010, 11:03:09 AM http://www.lotro.com/gameinfo/devdiaries/754-developer-diary-instances-20-part-1-
Quote Even when a space ends up successful with solid gameplay and fun, like Orion’s recent rebuild of Garth Agarwen, it suffers because it is set at a single level and only accessible to a small portion of the playerbase. This creates a lose/lose situation. We have great content that the majority of players aren’t in a level band for, and the players who want to play it are left with something not in their level range and an unrewarding experience as a result. This is a huge reason I am against a level-based game. Too bad we are stuck with it. Full text: Title: Re: Dev Diary: Instances 2.0 Post by: Mrbloodworth on July 21, 2010, 11:45:07 AM I like it. I now perhaps get to do stuff I haven't seen before, due to time.
I still say Turbine makes the BEST dungeons. Title: Re: Dev Diary: Instances 2.0 Post by: Zetor on July 21, 2010, 11:45:41 AM This (scalable dungeons like COH or skirmishes) actually sounds pretty neat. Balancing can be a rather big issue though (see duo skirmishes), I hope they're testing with lowbies in quest gear as well as twinks and level 60+s with uber LIs.

1) how will they handle itemization? Several instances bestow unique rewards. I wonder if they will be scaled and/or if Turbine will implement heirloom'ing like in WoW. 2) nothing about LFG. Presumably that's coming. 3) nothing about Radiance/Hope gating. Presumably that's also coming. For #2, I assume no change there. #3 :uhrr: Title: Re: Dev Diary: Instances 2.0 Post by: Mrbloodworth on July 29, 2010, 09:44:58 AM Developer Diary: Instances 2.0 (Part 2) (http://www.lotro.com/gameinfo/devdiaries/759-developer-diary-instances-20-part-2-)
Title: Re: Dev Diary: Instances 2.0 Post by: Yegolev on July 29, 2010, 12:19:13 PM Well, I expected at least one new token type. Pleased to find otherwise.
Title: Re: Dev Diary: Instances 2.0 Post by: Mrbloodworth on July 29, 2010, 12:42:29 PM Still wish they would make them a currency though.
Title: Re: Dev Diary: Instances 2.0 Post by: Yegolev on July 29, 2010, 12:44:27 PM You mean so that they don't take inventory slots, right?
