Man, that game looks terrible.  Please continue. :awesome_for_real:

Eh, was that R2-D2?

This is the best review of SWG I have ever read.  It captures everything I remember most about the game.

Le awesome. This needs to be done for every MMO.

You haven't even experienced the epicness that is the Legacy Quest!  Don't give up hope!

That took me back.  Back somewhere I didn't ever want to return too.  Thanks a lot A-Hole.

Hahaha, what?  That's SWG?  Holy shit did I make a good decision.  Yegolev 1, Lucas 0.

Sounds like they improved the newbie experience to me!  :awesome_for_real:

LOL, sad but true.  The starter stuff didn't even have a hint of Star Wars on release.

Even when it released it was a stunningly ugly game with dodgy mechanics... thanks for giving me a small taste as I'd never want to play it myself.

What's that white button on the right-hand side of the screen, at the edge? It looks fun. I'd click that first if I were playing. What is it, what is it, what is it?!

Re the 8km fedex - you were probably supposed to take a shuttle (instant transport) not drive your speeder. The start of the quest would be near one shuttle port, and the finish would be near another.

But this isn't really SWG, it's a game called NGE made with the assets of SWG. The classes and tutorial and newbie missions and combat were all implemented as part of the overnight surprise trainwreck that made almost everyone quit in 2004. The structure in the final screenshot is a player-owned building left by someone who quit in protest - probably a crafter who had a lot of money which they put into the building maintenance pool to make it last years.

It's not like the missions were any more exciting pre-NGE.  It was the exact same fedex/shoot a flag stuff.

If a shuttle quest is supposed to use a shuttle, a mission requirement needs to be the shuttle. :)

They should have done a lot of things.

Is it just me having trouble with this thread? Every time I open it it takes like 3 or 4 minutes to grind through all of the graphics before I see the new one line text message tacked on to the end. It'd sure be great if all the pictures were enclosed in those nice spoiler tags.

True, but the combat was (arguably) more interesting and, at least in the pre-CU days...the player was MASSIVELY more powerful.  The quests were the same, but a bit more entertaining to actually carry out, IMO.

I actually think that it was in every way more Star Warsy before the NGE.

Let the text load (happens fast). Then hit STOP (the red X button in Firefox, some other crap in other browsers). The pictures stop loading and you can read the text. Internets 101.

Oh good idea. Haven't had to do that since I got broadband but this thread is about the most ridiculously graphic intensive one I've seen in quite a while.  :awesome_for_real:

yegolev's adventure touched me in a bad place.  Deliver divorce decree?  DIVORCE DECREE?  You need to mail that to every TOR developer with the following written in blood on the envelope: "NO.   DON'T."
