Yes.  My analysis is that you get XP even when you lose, and each level gives you a random chance to get your very own overpowered ability.  So in the end it all works out pretty even.

I don't think this counts as a "game," but it's fun to watch cute things beat the shit out of each other, so meh.

Blurgh, you can make your own pupils. But eventually they stop giving exp. All of this company's games are pretty half-baked.

I hate this game.  How can I get more fights?  I have 2 pupils but it didn't get me any new fights.  Even worst, your toon keeps log of your subsequent battle but you don't get any xp from them.

My abilities really do suck.

I have a puny knife which I like to throw instead of stab with, and a net.  I toss it, then instantly attack, which breaks it.  Totally useless.  When I fight people, they have shield that block my puny attacks and then whip out weapons that do half my health in damage while letting them attack twice.

Wait till you fight someone with a pet.  Nets completely neutralize pets, because you throw the net on the pet and then attack the brute.  It's the only way I can figure out to survive a bear attack.

  I made 4 pupils for my brute, only got xp for the first one.  All of them have hit level 3 now and I only got XP from the first one to hit 3. You only seem to get XP from gaining the first pupil and then the first to hit a level-up.

But then since you'll gain more abilities and there's no way to select them, it will all balance out and become random when the grinding ends.

Schild, on the other hand, has killed me twice now. 22 points of axe damage and strong armor make me a scarred panda.

The potion seems rarer, but the shield is pretty elite IMO.

Also I can't believe I got involved in this.

Shield isn't that strong, seems to me innate always on stuff is way better than depending on the ai to do the right thing.  The shield is sort of a halfway type of thing it is always on until it gets disarmed sort of like a pet being there until it gets killed.  Between pet and shield i prefer a pet.

On a side note the whip cracks me up, wish i had one.

Oh, pet is definitely > shield. But shield can be great when you get a big string of blocks. It's certainly better than the potion.

Well. my brute from my earlier link is now in the 3000s in ranking. He's got like 4 weapons which comes in useful. Someone knocks a weapon out of his hand? He'll just draw another one.

The AI of this thing makes it painful to watch.  I just watched my brute stand there while the other guy threw shurukin (stars?) at him nonstop.  I think my brute is a mental defective. 

My brute leveled and got a knife.  It is painful to watch him discard the hammer (98 dmg per hit) and pull out the knife (8 damage per hit), now he sucks.

Went from hammer to knife AND got shurikowned as well myself.

Both very annoying.

Knife, potion, enhanced health.  I don't think I like any of them.  My Brute rarely uses the knife and when he does, he throws it early.  I've never seen him use the potion. 

I have won EXACTLY 3 times and am still Level 6 from pupils. It seems all I can do well is recruit people to this game. Everything else gets my ass kicked. I have yet to get one of the "FUCK YOU" abilities that everyone I fight seems to have.

That's not the AI, it's the shurkiens. I have a brute named Rayvyn who will pull out his shurikens and throw them sometimes as many as 6 times before the other guy acts. Since he got that weapon his win rate has doubled at least.

None of my brutes can beat anyone, even when I fight n00b brutes!  I have one with a whip, spear and some strange looking fan thing and I still never win.  I totally suck at a game that randomly generates everything and completely plays with itself.   I can't even beat Mansaurus.  I should be able to do that, right?  I stole other people's brutes and tried to kick his ass, too.  Posh Spice, Babyspice, Ginger Spice, Lowtax, I even sent Schild after Mansaurus!  I admit that was kind of sick.  In any case, this game drove me nuts for two days.  I would give up but I'm still enjoying stealing brutes that don't belong to me.  

Another thing - the list of people you fight shouldn't disappear at all, ever.  I can't remember the names of all the people who beat me so I can go after them later!  It's made me cranky.

Also - one guy was armed with some sort of winking pig's head.  It disturbed me.

hmm i've created about 10 of these lil critters and i thikn all but 1 of em are above a 60% win rate, I even had 1 beat he mentor down and go 6-0 out of the gate.  Biggest problem is the weapons, if you keep getting weapons as upgrades you get gimped real fast.

Also curious as to whether someone can explain the pupils to me.

I got points from like the first two, but people seem to have 50,000 for some reason. Do I get a point for every hundredth one or..?

I've got one of the shuriken pests, he quickly became the favorite of my three characters, even more than my guy with the hammer. I'm lucky so far that it's his only weapon, and I think 6th Sense ability helps him go on the occasional ridiculously long run. He's having more trouble with competition at level 4 than he had up to now, though, I think because added hit points means one run is no longer enough to decide a fight.

He looks the part, too, with a fumanchu mustache, wrapped hands, and Martial Arts.

I got 1 agility point for level 6.  I've been getting my ass handed to me left and right.  Maybe next level I'll get a bear to make up for it.

Hah, just made a new one, started with a whip, at level 2 got vitality. Has 107 hp.

Yet you'll still get your ass kicked by people with 53 hp and a dog.  The game is both fun and annoying.

It really depends. I have a character that will tear dogs up. And a coworker of mine has an ability that lets him scare animals away. It's awesome. He leans over and roars and they run away.

Mark Jacobs high speed gave me a lot of advantage over fights. Plenty of times opponent I would get 3-4 hits in a row first before the opponent could hit me back once. :grin: At this point all I want is a really quick weapon to chain attacks more often.

I've not been able to do any interaction whatsoever--either it's an obtuse interface, or it requires doing something I've not--and I've tried :P

There is none.. the only interaction is looking for people with wimpy powers and avoiding those with imbalanced powers (like noodle bowls). That and re-rolling your character if it doesn't get an imbalanced combo.

I guess you could also say spamming forums trying to get disciples / duels is another but that's too much of a reality dysfunction for me.

None of my Spice Girls can beat Mansaurus.  Not even Old Spice.  Since they only ever fight Mansaurus regularly, and each other, there seems no reason for them to carry on.  They might retire - except for the ones that I've stolen which can be stolen by anyone until their real owner password protects them.  Still - there seems no use.  Maybe I'll change them into Emo Girls.

There is no control. The knife sucks, I'm expecting to be fucked over by the game.

Signe is actually not me, although I use her sometimes because she's not password protected.  My chars are:  StepfordSigne, FatOldBastard, Young Alex, thejeni, Bullemia and some others.  Oh, Posh Spice is mine and I use some other spice girls to try and beat up Mansaurus (who is Schild) and Lantyssa because I think she likes it.  It's hot to have your ass kicked by a Spice Girl, no?  Most of my brutes suck, too.  I think Righ has the right idea if you want to do well in this game.  Start bajillions of brutes under your mains and write a script to play them - he worked it all out although neither of us will do it because - who can be arsed to write scripts for a game that plays with itself? 

Yeah I'm not really interested in taking it that far. Mainly I'll just farm Lantyssa for xp and collect knives.

This is a brute with a high tendency to just fucking throw shit. He pulls out his weapon, strikes with it once, and then sends it sailing across the screen. He pulls his second weapon and does it again, causing an instant loss. And he seems to do this every. single. fight.

My Brute used to do that regularly. Now he doesn't even bother to pull out his one and only weapon until the very end when it's too late to do any good.

A couple of my characters have been doing this exact same thing all of a sudden.  Good, I'm glad.  It gives me an excuse not to care.

I'm in The West as Shunned (for almost a week, I think) but not part of the town quite yet.  Even when I'm away from the computer, I get Righ to keep me up to date.  I'm still trying to figure out what to be, but I have a couple of levels to go before that anyway.

I got a baton last level.  Either I never pull it out, I pull it out when I have one soft hit's worth of life left, or I toss it after using it once.  I'm pretty sure I'll continue sucking forever.

If I pull out my Baton early on and don't throw it away I'm actually pretty tough to beat. The Baton has range over most of the weapons at my level range so it can keep people from hitting me with clubs, axes, swords, knifes etc. I have a decent amount of HPs (plus a potion now) to make up for my relatively low damage and have a net to hold pets. So "on paper" it's actually a pretty nice, defensive setup, but unfortunately the AI screws me over more times than not.

They must give a link to you, in order for you to become their pupil by registering a new character. Some sort of retarded referral system that gives exp when that pupil levels up.

Falconeer's nailed it though. There is not much of a game here. You just pick three opponents and that's it. You either get 3-6 EXP a day max from fights. Which defeats the purpose of battling in arena when everyone just game the system with unique IP pupil spam. Check the highest level and see the number of pupils and you'll understand what I mean. And the passive combat didn't help lol. If I could at least set up a gambit system on which weapon to throw and power ups to use at least there's some sort of strat to play each character's strengths instead of 'Look for a nub one level below you to win more often'

I mean, since it's completely pointless, why can't I have 50 fights a day? Or 20.
But 3? Beats me.

Because the purpose of the site to its owners is as a traffic magnet. The guy who won the last tournament has a level 51 character because he's directing traffic toward their website (or cheating), and in turn the My Brute! site sends traffic to their other games. Which I assume, and appear to, have actual profit mechanisms.

The game is pointless and shallow, and that itself is another reason why you have 3 fights a day and not 20. With 20 fights, you run out of content (new abilities) very quickly. If they made it so people progressed at the same rate and THEN made the fights 20 or 50, people would get tired of having to grind out their fights every day (or get tired of it more quickly).

What probably should be allowed is fighting people after your limit of 3 without xp being involved. That way I could spam Lantyssa with red messages and allow her to realize how much she sucks.

I don't have a weapon (Net, Feline Agility, useless Fierce Brute) which is a major cause of my losses. I need a bit more damage to pull off a win, especially at lvl 3. Net is a mixed blessing - great for animals, waste for normal players.

You seriously need a reroll.  Bad luck of the draw on your abilities. 

They will help a lot later, but you really need a big weapon to make your fierce attack sting.

my Norton definitely has been bitching about this for the last 3 or 4 days + several messages i have gotten prompting me to upgrade flash + lots of flash crashes.  I'm starting to believe this isn't a false positive but the real deal, I was suspicious prior to this news and just didn't really care as i'm reinstalling pretty soon anyhow.

I haven't really had any problems, and my various scans haven't detected anything...

It does seem odd that a Symantec employee would claim it's a false positive if it's not.


But I dunno.

Norton at work doesn't like it.  My AVG at home is fine with it.  I think it's all about having updated definition files.

Edit: I should also say I'm not really surprised it triggers something like this. NoScript complains of a "clickjacking" attempt because of the weird way they use Flash on the site. So the Norton warning is just another indication of their wonky Flash coding.

For some inexplicable reason I want to like this game, but they're making it hard.  I signed up to the April 22 tournament, which has now run, and I lost to some guy in some round.  Also, the winner was a lvl 5 that beat a lvl 54 in the final.  But I can't see either match because they've already forgotten them.  It's currently April 22.  They can't even keep a single day of logs.

I would like this game more if my brute won in spectacular fashion in every match. Or I at least had a say in which skill/weapon I got when I leveled. But then they'd actually have to balance them. Or something.

The (assumed) pure randomness of character advancement works against it to some degree. I started a few alts and if they got a weapon first off, they owned. And then there are character attributes that aren't worth having.

Like every one I've gotten.

My willingness to keep playing probably has a lot to do with the skills I've been getting. I'm totally a beast.

Of course, both weapons I've gotten are probably the worst weapons in the game. Oh well.

I think I've found the secret to this game, have a long name.  I made over a dozen random fools with limited success, but my toon SuperPathetic and disciples SuperSlave1 and GenevaCheese have all gone 6-0 for their first matches, it's the long names, I know it.

My brute seems to have stopped gaining hit points, regularly getting stomped by people with twice the health at the same level. Having just levelled up to 6 and got a knife which will just dilute the character further I give up on it. Well, that and the fact there's not actually any game there!

Hmm, there also appear to be bonuses depending on what clothes you wear. I might be wrong, but characters in armour (particularly bracers) block, but those with bare arms don't.

There are some abilities that will completely neutralize bears.  You can snare them in a net, scare them off or take control of them.  Or you could just get lucky and kill the other guy in a few hits before he can wreck you.

I'm really starting to hate my caveman club.  I usually take it out, miss about 6 times and die.  When I hit it's lovely... the rest of the time, ugh.

Whip seems to hit bears before they can hit me, but that pretty much goes for everything.

Hammer or morning star are ridiculously overpowered. As are pets if you don't have one.

Club is the worst weapon in the game. Morningstar is basically Club -10 damage that hits every single time. It's a monster.

Dude.. dual pets is rough.  MrUF has a bear and a wolf. I picked him because if his 56 hps..  yeah, WTF.

I avoid players with low health now.  I find that picking the strong players usually works best.  If they have high strength, they tend to be slow with low agility.  Of course, I lose those fights too.

Since I got tough skin + armor, I try to fight people with a high speed, on the theory that my armor gives me better odds against people who hit me a lot for a little damage each time than against people who hit me a little for a lot of damage each time.  It works sometimes.

It's also good to avoid people with names like "mydude173", because you know that's the guy who made 173 different dudes until he got a bear or something equally horrible.

I've got to say, it's annoying having seen how effective my brute's halberd is that he's decided not to use it for the last 8 or so fights. I guess that ties into the annoying automatedness of fights but it's just ridiculously frustrating to see the AI being purposefully retarded (2 weapons available, one gets knocked out so it sticks with fists for the rest of the fight).
