Title: Blizzcon 08
Post by: Nonentity on August 12, 2008, 07:41:50 AM
I'm currently still trying to get tickets through Blizzard's trainwreck of an online store, but I'm going.

Anyone else going?

Awk-ward...

Unless of course you don't get along with your sister I suppose.

I am assuming his fiance will run him over shortly by accident for playing too much WoW.  Pretty sure that this trip will push her over the edge too.  Probably when she picks him up at the airport while driving drunk in his new BMW M-whatever-the-fuck.

Family!   :awesome_for_real:

Hahaha, brother-in-law can not go since his fiance threatened to cut off his penis if he went.

So I have an extra ticket now.

Don't sell it to him unless he promises to make little cartoons of everything he sees and does.

Statement from Mike Morhaime  08/13/08

Blizzard Gamers,

On behalf of everyone at Blizzard, I want to apologize for the challenges and frustrations you experienced while trying to purchase BlizzCon tickets on Monday and Tuesday. BlizzCon is about the positive experiences you all have had with Blizzard games. As a result of this week's events, the excitement that many of you felt about the show has turned into dissatisfaction and disappointment.

Due to these circumstances, we've reevaluated our convention hall space and come up with some solutions that will allow us to offer 3,000 more tickets for sale. We know this will not be enough to satisfy the very high level of demand for tickets this year, but we want to ensure that BlizzCon remains a great experience for those of you who are able to attend. To avoid the issues many of you faced this week, we'll be selling these 3,000 via a lottery. We'll post further details once our plans are finalized. Please note that the lottery will only be open to those with an active Blizzard Account as of 9:00 PM PDT on August 12, the time that the “Sold Out” notice was posted.

I, and everyone else at Blizzard, share the frustration and disappointment that many of you have expressed as a result of this process. We'll do what it takes to avoid this type of situation in the future.

               Sincerely,

               Mike Morhaime

I know, right?

Oban - me and my friends are gonna try for tickets. If it doesn't work out, and your friend from Toronto doesn't want to go, keep me in mind.

I wonder how many people misread the notice and think the lottery is for free tickets as opposed to a lottery for the ability to purchase tickets.

About 90% if the rest of life is any indicator of trends.

Title: Re: Blizzcon 08
Post by: Ingmar on August 14, 2008, 04:02:33 PM
I'm wondering how many know that they had to have an active Blizzard account at the time that the tickets sold out a couple days ago, and how many of *those* people realize that their WoW account is not the same thing.

So, only one day of the show for me.

No, I told the girl in the raven lord costume she had an awesome costume though, and she said I have awesome eyes. I didn't know how to interpret that.

I have to admit, that whole blood elf female dance routine with the 14 year old girl, and Jay Mohr's take on it had me cackling.

We were playing Diablo or Starcraft or something during the dance contest, so we missed most of the  :pedobear: action. On the plus side, the lines were waaaaaaaay longer the next day. Suckers!

Did she say "Gee, thanks!", look you up and down and then say "and you have awesome, um, ah, errr.... eyes, yeah, eyes!"

The costume contest was amazing this year. That Undead Girl should have gotten more props for her outfit. Truly outstanding work on all participant's parts.

The most amazing thing about the undead woman was she had the walk and posture down cold too. It was uncanny.

Sadly, no, that would have been hilarious. No - she immediately said it after I said that, I was kind of taken aback.

I ask only because that undead woman is making me feel horny and all colours of wrong.

There were a few things that would have violated:

1. Women who cosplay are crazy. CRAZY. This is a self-confirmed fact. Probably applies to dudes too, I have no idea.
2. She was in costume every time I saw her, no way to tell if she was actually attractive or not.
3. I had just put the moves on a girl the previous night, I'm not sure she would have dug it (not that it matters now, but I digress).

I'd dig a girl if she was always in costume. But I'm crazy like that.

OH SHIT MAYBE I COSPLAY.

Cosplayers are their own special kind of crazy.  It's a kind of crazy I like though.  (Good thing, since I do cosplay.)  The problem is if they have other kinds of crazy.
