Post by: Ironwood on June 21, 2007, 08:15:16 AM
Is it meant to be this fucking hard ?

Seriously this thing sucks donkeys and is giving me connection errors every five seconds...

It doesn't like Dual Processors ?  Are you fucking kidding me ?

Seems to be running better now I've switched one off.

Damn.

Dude, the MtGO clients suck balls. We have many threads about it ;)

It's not going to suck less balls for you. Enjoy trading 32 cards at a time.

Indeed, but I don't remember it sucking this hard when I used to play and I CERTAINLY don't remember installation issues.

I've not even got INTO the game yet.

It sucks and all, but just lately it seems to be worse, unplayable lag seems to be a feature of every other play session these days.

If I wrote a clone of MtGO in Perl/Tk, would you lot give me monies?

Just to make it clear, I'm using the V2 client, not the beta...

And, yes, someone PLEASE write a better one !

Do you think you could do a better version?

Ironwood:

I had alot of probs downloading the client originally too.  You can try going to your local hobby store that carries Magic stuff and asking if they have installation CDs.  I have a couple friends who own a card/collectibles shop,  and they say they get the CDs in all the time whether they want them or not.

It'll take a while to update, but leave it loading overnight and you should be fine.

If you do get going,  feel free to hit me up online (I know, time differences...) for any commons/uncommons you need or just to browse.  Think I'm up to 15,000 cards now....  Mostly from draft,  so I have 10-30 copies of some decent cards that are also good in draft.

That goes for anyone that's on,  if I happen to be around.

I'm never on any more but if anyone wants commons I can be on. I've really soured on MTGO with the combination of the last 3 or 4 drafts I've done being interrupted with a server crash and version 3.0 sucking.

I've been on almost solid for the last couple of days, as has the wife, mostly learning the new rules - the Suspend idea kicked me right in the fucking dick for a lot of games.

I'm on as Lodehenge and I appear to be still in Bat Country, so feel free to pop over and say hi if I'm on.  I'll try to zombie you for a giggle too.

One thing I will say is that you should PLEASE introduce yourself as being from f13 with a handle name if you can.  I'm a bit of a short tempered person (Yeah, shock, awe, surprise) and if I don't know who you are I might just find myself being a dick.

The problems that I had with the client seem to have stemmed ENTIRELY from the thing not liking Dual Processors.  The fact that I have to switch one off EVERY TIME I want to play is annoying the fuck out of me too.  It's possible only Trippy can help me now.

Heh.
