Didn't think it fit in politics since it's so wondrously stupid, but apparently we can simply legislate for good parental skills. Who'd have though it. Title: Re: And now, to our Foreign Correspondent, Big Gulp. Post by: Merusk on April 27, 2007, 04:07:46 AM Ah Prohibitionists rise again. Whee.
There's a few folks around here who think now that tobacco has been marginalized, and Janet fucked over broadcasting so much, the next thing on the chopping block is Alcohol. I'm inclined to believe it, too. Title: Re: And now, to our Foreign Correspondent, Big Gulp. Post by: Murgos on April 27, 2007, 06:49:57 AM I like that you guys call your extremist nutjobs charities. We just call ours special interest groups.
Calling them a charity seems to help lessen the idea that you should try and take them seriously. Title: Re: And now, to our Foreign Correspondent, Big Gulp. Post by: Sky on April 27, 2007, 07:38:15 AM I need to get a charity going.

Title: Re: And now, to our Foreign Correspondent, Big Gulp. Post by: Morat20 on April 27, 2007, 11:02:00 AM Clown Shoes. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6596515.stm) Fucking morons. Every fuckin' binge drinker I knew came from a family with an anal relationship towards booze. All the actual social drinkers -- we're talking slow and steady enough that their blood-alcohol content never even got them into "can't drive" range were the ones whose parents started to let them have wine when they were in their early teens, and flat out told them if they wanted to drink they could at home.Didn't think it fit in politics since it's so wondrously stupid, but apparently we can simply legislate for good parental skills. Who'd have though it. Oh, and every one got expressely told: "If you think you are too drunk to drive, call me. I will drive however far I need to to pick you -- and any friends -- up and take them home, and you will NOT hear one word about it later. No fucking way you get into shit by being responsible". The binge drinkers, on the other hand, learned to drink that way because they generally only had a couple of hours to get the beer down before Mom or Dad might catch them. Title: Re: And now, to our Foreign Correspondent, Big Gulp. Post by: Riggswolfe on April 27, 2007, 02:56:19 PM Too true Morat. This relationship also seems to hold true in other areas. The more "taboo" something is, the more irresistable some people find it. For instance, my mother never bothered to hide my step-dad's Playboy's and now I find most porn very boring.

CNAVHG? Title: Re: And now, to our Foreign Correspondent, Big Gulp. Post by: Daeven on April 28, 2007, 10:52:58 AM Yep. Every binge drinker I've ever met was locked away to stay save from exposure to The Evils of the world. Booze. Sex. whatever.
Then they hit college and go batshit insane. These were the kids who couldn't understand why I'd want a. just one Guinness and b. refuse to ever, EVER drink crap like Keystone. But then I only needed to get shit-faced plastered once to decide that was fucking stupid, and never did it again. So. Perhaps everything I'm saying is crap. Like usual.
