What the hell does PDA have to do with misogyny?  I'm not saying that India is not rife with institutionalized misogyny but enjoying kissing is not an inherently female trait that disapproving of it in public means you hate women.

I'm saying that laws like that probably started from some shithead who wanted to keep women in check, or who couldn't bear the site of them doing what they want (this goes for similar issues in other cultures). I don't think it has anything to do with "decency" at all. Or rather, I think the entire concept of "decency" was invented by misogynists and/or possessive men. Not to imply that Stray is necessarily wrong, but the only person to ever give me shit about kissing in public was a woman.  She became hopping mad that me and my girlfriend were kissing in a restaurant where her two teenaged sons could see us.  I wanted to tell her I thought she was bat-shit insane but I was too shocked that someone would actually get so bent out of shape about something so natural.  It's not as we duelling tongues or anything.

It amuses me no end all the lectures we got about how the "real world" is as teenagers. I always had the impression that the "real world" was where you could expect help from basically no-one and had to deal with your own problems. In reality everyone goes around trying to cozzle the real world anyway and if you have an issue there's a special interest group to bitch with or a higher authority you can appeal to who will sympathyse because unlike a teacher they actually give a fuck whether you like them. The only difference is I hear less swear words, overhear less conversations about who gave who a blowjob, see less violence in real life, have to pay taxes, and have to vote. Gee, I'm glad I built up all that thick skin in high school!
