Title: Frogs with Guns Post by: Falconeer on March 09, 2007, 03:41:52 PM Where's Signe when you need her?
Phylon (http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/phylon/landing.aspx) has lots of first person frogs. With guns. Title: Re: Frogs with Guns Post by: WayAbvPar on March 09, 2007, 04:02:55 PM I thought the Nazis took all the guns away from the Frogs when they captured Paris.
Title: Re: Frogs with Guns Post by: Signe on March 09, 2007, 04:15:16 PM I'm not coordinated enough to do shooters.
Title: Re: Frogs with Guns Post by: Kail on March 09, 2007, 04:27:28 PM Okay, after reading that site, I learned three things: 1: Phylon is a greek word for "Tribes" 2: Phylon (the game, I mean) looks like a sci-fi FPS in which you fly around on jetpacks in huge outdoor battles, and 3: If I want to know anything else about the game, I get to wait in line for an hour to download their commercials. Is this game really an MMO ripoff of Tribes? Or what? Title: Re: Frogs with Guns Post by: LC on March 09, 2007, 09:44:41 PM Actually it looks like a rehash of the MMORPG they bought (Endless Ages (http://www.mmolands.com)) with
Phylon Quote RAPID REALITY’S LAUNCHES CLOSED BETA ON IGN FOR MMO FPS, PHYLON COMMERCIAL RELEASE SET FOR APRIL 6, 2007 In anticipation of the April 6, 2007 release of its first MMOFPS, Rapid Reality Studios announces the launch of the Phylon Closed Beta. The Beta will run on IGN’s Fileplanet from March 7-21, 2007. Promising to be an exciting and challenging game, Phylon combines the fast-paced action of an FPS with the persistence and depth of an MMO. Join players from around the world as part of the Blobic Imperium, the Amphibian resistance, or the Terran colonists in their struggle for control of the planet Anura. Crush your enemies in instanced battle arenas, including Deathmatch and Domination. Advance in skill and unlock access to hundreds of unique items, including jet packs, energy shields, and weapons. Endless Ages Quote It is being called the first MMORTFPSRPG. For those of you who like to know what we're talking about that's Massively Multiplayer Online Real Time First Person Shooter Roleplaying Game. Combining the action and pace of a first person shooter, with the advancement and the shear addictive power of a roleplaying game, all set in the immersive world of a massively multiplayer environment gives Endless Ages a significant edge, even if the abbreviation is a little cumbersome. The game is set in a sort of afterlife where three races -- humans, amphibians and blobics -- go after they die. In this afterlife death is of little consequence; once you die you instantly re-spawn to fight again. While the story isn't heavily emphasized it's an interesting way to explain the coexistence of such different species together as well as the rationale behind resurrecting dead characters. In this world the greatest minds of the world before have brought with them the technology and information they acquired in their previous life. This means that weapons and vehicles such as jetpacks are in ample supply for anyone with enough cash. Not to be outdone by science and engineering, the more arcane powers are present as well, with the human females wielding magic and amphibians exerting mind control over the local wildlife to fight for them. Endless Ages has really tried to combine everything in this game, offering something to everyone. Title: Re: Frogs with Guns Post by: schild on March 10, 2007, 05:31:32 AM MMORTFPSRPG.
Good god. Title: Re: Frogs with Guns Post by: Trippy on March 10, 2007, 05:36:59 AM Have there been any FPSes that haven't been real-time (ignoring temporary "bullet-time" effects and stuff)?

In addition to frogs it appears you can play as some sort of anime girl or something. I'd know for sure but I would have had to download something from fileplanet, which sucks fucking shit. Title: Re: Frogs with Guns Post by: HaemishM on March 12, 2007, 12:07:07 PM Endless Ages? Somebody bought that? Fuck me, that game was occular rape at its shit shit shittiest.
Title: Re: Frogs with Guns Post by: Jayce on March 13, 2007, 05:02:36 AM It sounds remarkably like Planetside, but with instanced battlegrounds. And frogs.

Title: Re: Frogs with Guns Post by: Nonentity on March 19, 2007, 11:53:39 AM I downloaded this game, installed it, played it for about 5 minutes before realizing it was absolutely and completely terrible, and removed it.
The interface is clunky, the world is poorly put together, and the feedback you receive as a player whether you're attacking something or not (or attacking you) is awful. |
