Title: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Alkiera on February 19, 2007, 10:01:51 AM So I restarted WoW after being out for a year, on a new server (Dentarg/Alliance). Got a chance to run Deadmines with my level 17 druid. Was a neat zone, we had a low-20s druid to heal, so I spent a fair amount of time as a bear pulling stuff off the healer, tho it felt good to be able to shift out and heal when the shaman hit OOM.
So as to the idiot part, every time a leather piece would drop that had +AGI on it, the warrior would scream about needing it for his +crit chances. I often rolled 'need' on these, because they were way better than the stuff I had, as that was the first instance run with the character. I, and the 23 warlock in the group, thought this warrior was full of crap... IMO, the +4 AGI on leather pants are not worth putting up with leather armor over mail, as a warrior. Is this guy an idiot? Or is this some sekret l33t strategy? Or just wanting loot he can mail to his rogue/druid/hunter twink? -- Alkiera Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Morat20 on February 19, 2007, 10:15:31 AM Idiot. Warriors need stamina and strength -- on fucking mail. Hunters, rogues, feral druids shoud be rolling on the +agility leather.
I can't imagine him twinking out alts like that. So much easier to fucking buy that shit on the AH. We're talking 50 silver for the GOOD Deadmines BoE (except the Defias gear). Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Paelos on February 19, 2007, 10:16:12 AM He's an idiot. Agi is mostly crap for a warrior at the early stages, and even MORE so when you take into account the armor loss on leather vs. mail. There's a reason most mail gear at that level doesn't have agi on it, because it doesn't make sense. A smart leveling warrior wants three things: health, attack power, and armor. None of those come from agi leather.
He was probably trying to screw you out of items for his alts. Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Rasix on February 19, 2007, 10:19:24 AM I vote for idiot. I had someone explain to me once how they desperately needed a sword with +1 agility on it at level 20 and how it would make such a remarkable difference for them. I wrote them off immediately as some sort of retarded, delusional munchkin.
People that obsess over stats and gear during on noob toons just bother me. Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Jayce on February 19, 2007, 10:23:17 AM Idiot.
He probably read some end-game guide written back before the BC changes that emphasized crit chance for PvP warriors and extrapolated that to mean any warrior toon. I actually had a guildmate who thought the same way; as a lvl 60 raiding dps warrior, he had several leather pieces and his board sig even said "I'm a rogue, I wear leather". Of course he was probably even more squishy overall than a rogue given that they can actually dodge and dump aggro if needed. Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Tebonas on February 19, 2007, 10:30:50 AM More like asshole than idiot. Did you actually see him wear that stuff after he won it? I always tell them to wear it immediately if somebody pulls that on me. Good luck mailing your soulbound item to your twink.
Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: WindupAtheist on February 19, 2007, 10:32:41 AM Deadmines is a fun instance. I routinely run lowbies in my Horde-side guild through it as an alternative to the usual Wailing Caverns and Shadowfang Keep runs, despite the distance and gankage involved.
Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: HaemishM on February 19, 2007, 11:26:38 AM Deadmines is a blast. I'm betting on idiot douchebag for the warrior mentioned. If he's not using mail, it should be because he got a piece with great str or sta on it, not agi. Crits are way too chancy a thing to dick around with building a character concept around.
Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: jpark on February 19, 2007, 02:53:32 PM Hate lists in wow are just not long enough. Record his name - avoid him.
Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Triforcer on February 19, 2007, 04:59:40 PM I vote idiot as well. I am a balance druid, and can more reasonably claim lower armor classes (spell damage cloth) than this guy. Yet, I would still not even THINK of rolling on damage cloth unless the cloth DPSers passed. Not only is this guy wrong on specifics (warrior in mail=gimpy) he is wrong on principle.
Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: ajax34i on February 19, 2007, 05:15:20 PM Not idiot. Loot ho, possibly ninjalooter in the making, sure.
Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: lamaros on February 19, 2007, 05:23:19 PM An Idiot, and an ass. Surprising how they often go hand in hand, eh?
Had a warrior need on my leather fang set in WC once. I went "wtf?" he said "omg look at the stats" everyone else went "wtf?" and the leader of the group kicked him without anymore conversation. Competed the instance just fine without him. I guess because I was just fooling on an alt it's more amusing than anything for me; loot whoring in WC is just too funny to get annoyed by. Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Ironwood on February 20, 2007, 06:49:49 AM Total fucking Idiot and almost certain cockmunch.
Can I also second the Group Leader saying 'I want to see you wearing that now if you've needed it', if it's BoE. If it was BoP, then he's just a chucklehead who needs to, ahem, Lern2play. Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Kenrick on February 20, 2007, 07:20:30 AM Beyond idiot.
Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Alkiera on February 20, 2007, 08:36:08 AM After the deadly success on VC, the 'lock who was the group leader booted the warrior after he 'need'ed the blue cloak drop off VC. I was left to choose, and almost chose 'need', just to see if I could get it instead of him, but I'd gotten a cloak upgrade already in that run, and didn't want to fight the tard on his own level.
I didn't care too much anyway, as it's level 20ish stuff, and I don't plan on being 20 that long. I fully expect to get stuff from quests in the next area that replaces a fair bit of the stuff I just got; it's the nature of Diku. No sense in going ballistic over it. -- Alkiera Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Ironwood on February 20, 2007, 08:54:13 AM That's really why it's so stupid. Had it been level 70 gear, that might have been one thing. But Level 20 ? How fucking long before you dust it ??
Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: Lantyssa on February 20, 2007, 12:26:04 PM I'd keep it forever, but then I have four bags full of clothes that I like the appearance of. Not that I would Need an item someone else has a legitimate claim to nor without checking with the group if it were okay.
One more vote for idiot and ass. Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: angry.bob on February 20, 2007, 01:43:58 PM Idiot, probably trying to get loot for an alt.
And I also keep bags of items I like the looks of. I still have my full set of Slayers, Brutish, Sunscale, and Lightforge. Not to mention a set of Calico cloth, a wedding dress, the red valentines dress, and each of the lunar festival dresses. My wife laughs at me and tells me I'm such a chick. heh. I also used to wear gear based solely on how it looked together and pretty much ignored the stats. Prior to BC not looking like a F***ing circus clown was kind of hard, but with the new sets having all the pieces be the same level it's easy to look great! Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... Post by: MrHat on February 20, 2007, 01:51:14 PM I used to roll around in a white wedding dress on my male bald orc rogue.
Coming out of stealth and stunlocking a guy to death, then flirting w/ their corpse. Ah, good times. Title: Re: Idiot or not, you be the judge... I still have a set of Hero's Mail in my hunter's bank because it looks fantastic. My outfitter add-on also swaps me into the black valentine's dress when I'm in cities. I've always been a MMO fashion whore. :| :-o Oh and the guy's beyond idiot and into moron territory. |
