Title: Happy Post by: Cheddar on February 16, 2007, 11:50:00 PM This is my personal happy thread. Post happy shit here.
Thank you. Title: Re: Happy Post by: MuffinMan on February 17, 2007, 12:19:25 AM My wife just got a new job that tripled her income. Yay! But it's in the 3rd most dangerous city in the country. Boo!
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Evangolis on February 17, 2007, 04:51:35 AM I woke up alive again this morning. I love to start the day that way.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Samwise on February 17, 2007, 06:40:28 PM It's been bright and sunny all week. Today I went for a long walk along the beach and found some pretty pebbles. Glorious.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Llava on February 17, 2007, 08:05:28 PM It's the Chinese New Year, and I believe it's the Year of the Pig. Pigs are universally happy. Yes, even ones killed for their sweet, sweet bacons.
Now there's a thought to inspire happiness: bacon. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Cheddar on February 17, 2007, 08:07:20 PM Civ 4 FFH- Fire is out! Wahoo!
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Yoru on February 18, 2007, 02:50:27 AM I got drunk and talked to random women tonight.
Does that count? I'm still durnk. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Yegolev on February 18, 2007, 04:47:46 AM At lunch on Friday, the bargirl was wearing a red thong. Also, she kept putting the bottle opener in her waistband.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Flood on February 18, 2007, 09:41:17 AM Because I got fired from my job recently, I no longer have to walk/run 8 hours a day. That has given my feet a chance to start healing and my doctor says that I probably don't have to worry about not being able to walk due to the damage in another year if I didn't (hadn't) stopped. Go go Everything Happens For A Reason.
Next if I can save a bit of money AND find a job over yonder, I'll be living on the beach in a few months. Went from losing everything I had to possibly turning my whole life around - That makes me happy. 8-) Title: Re: Happy Post by: Llava on February 18, 2007, 09:53:22 AM Title: Re: Happy Post by: Yoru on February 18, 2007, 10:49:05 AM I believe in the magic of Bacon. It, and time, heal all wounds. Except burns caused by spattering bacon grease. You're just kind of screwed with those. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Llava on February 18, 2007, 03:14:46 PM I have a scar on my right arm from a grease burn, though it's fairly faint.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Murgos on February 18, 2007, 06:28:54 PM A friend of mine bought me a bottle of good port. I know shit about port. Now I have to go learn about port so that I can appreciate this good port.
A six pack would have been fine too. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Calantus on February 18, 2007, 07:53:10 PM My project is no longer in crunch mode brought on by the project manager misreading the date due when scheduling and we're in the laid back "squash bugs as they are found and add new features the client forgot to tell us they wanted" mode. It looks like we did a pretty good job so I'm not having to do all that much difficult squashing or adding. Tomorrow's meeting will likely be predominantly about where we want to go drink a few beers when we're done. I even played some video games over the weekend. Life is good.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Viin on February 18, 2007, 08:18:24 PM I haven't gotten laid off yet and my wife isn't pregnant (yet). So far so good.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Azazel on February 18, 2007, 10:35:40 PM Back at work and while I don't have either more money than I know what to do with or quite enough money to buy all the random useless shit I want to buy, I do have enough money for random useless spontaneous purchases. I bought a Roman Legionaire helmet, a Burgonet (helmet), some gauntlets, a toy TIE interceptor, some kevlar helmets and a bunch of covers and straps and pouches and other random shit to go with them. Also a Tusken Raider full-head mask and a MR Ep3 Clonetrooper helmet!
It's nice not being skint again. Title: Re: Happy Post by: MrHat on February 19, 2007, 06:36:48 AM I haven't gotten laid off yet and my wife isn't pregnant (yet). So far so good. Truth. Also, President's Day! Title: Re: Happy Post by: Signe on February 19, 2007, 06:44:29 AM Tomorrow will be in the 40s. It'll feel like a tropical heat wave! Yay! Title: Re: Happy Post by: Bunk on February 19, 2007, 12:07:49 PM I did my taxes yesterday and will be enjoying a $1400 refund. Despite what people say, money always makes me happy.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Furiously on February 20, 2007, 12:57:15 PM I made spaghetti carbonara last night. Bacon, eggs, cheese and cream and pepper are so good.

Title: Re: Happy Post by: Morfiend on February 20, 2007, 02:30:49 PM Didn't we tell Hyutelemediwhatshisname to stop posting this kind of shit?
No offense but this isn't your blog. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Damn Dirty Ape on February 20, 2007, 03:08:39 PM I learned the guitar parts for "Dancing With Myself" today.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Cheddar on February 20, 2007, 04:15:13 PM When posting gets slow I make posts that amuse me. Enjoy this for what it is!
FFH mod pack is out with a major update this week. This is happy in digital format! Title: Re: Happy Post by: Llava on February 20, 2007, 06:15:22 PM Different between this thread and one Hyu would've started is that this one didn't start with a bullshit story involving an asian she-he, motosurfing, and Davey Havoc.
Point being, he ain't blogging, he's inviting sharing. Point being, he ain't blogging, he's inviting sharing. Or just generally shooting the shit without the Shit being prefixed with Bull and suffixed with "About Myself". Title: Re: Happy Post by: Raging Turtle on February 20, 2007, 08:39:03 PM Got hired today! Woot!
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Damn Dirty Ape on February 20, 2007, 08:53:43 PM Grats, Raging Turtle.
Those who are making this The Sad Thread instead of The Happy Thread are teh suxxorz. I'm off to practice guitar rather than play WoW for a change. Tonight's study is The Police, inspired by the reunion tour news. That combined with the earlier Idol makes today an early '80s themed day. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Cheddar on February 20, 2007, 09:01:00 PM Got hired today! Woot! Exactly. This about good stuff, not Cheddar related. GRATS MAN! I would like to interject in here currently; I had a less then stellar day, but coming home to a box with the NO SCHILD LEFT BEHIND case inside lifted my spirits a LOT. I love building systens and this one is going to be interesting! Title: Re: Happy Post by: Llava on February 20, 2007, 10:02:22 PM Title: Re: Happy Post by: Sky on February 21, 2007, 10:01:18 AM My guitar makes me happy. I'd been practicing on the acoustic to build up strength, but it needs to have a winter bridge made, high E keeps buzzing. So I've been playing the Gibson for the last week and falling in love with it all over again, it's the most amazing guitar I've ever played.
My new pc is also making me happy, even though I'm RMA'ing back that damned Creative card that won't do DD5.1 in games and my gpu is still a bit flaky. I'm happy I have some ideas on that, and lacking that, I'll get a new card because evga is a cool company. Also, all details on every game running at good framerates is making me happy. I finally have the shadows and max details I wanted in EQ2 (said I wouldn't upgrade until I could do that, it was kind of a milemarker). Title: Re: Happy Post by: Yegolev on February 21, 2007, 10:56:37 AM Almost finished with the tax forms. There sure are a lot of things I can deduct for 2006. Medical expenses! Pretty much anything prescribed for a specific illness or prevention, it seems, and I was totally unprepared for that. I'm going to have to decide if I want to dig up as many receipts as I can or just submit it now. Other fun things include daycare-so-we-can-work (got it), alternative-fuel cars (no) and home improvements that increase energy efficiency (maybe in 2007). Either this is new stuff or I should have been using TurboTax all along.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Margalis on February 21, 2007, 11:00:31 PM Taxes in a happy thread? You lose!
Title: Re: Happy Post by: voodoolily on February 22, 2007, 09:17:26 AM We got more than half our closing costs contributed by the seller of our house and now we can afford to have our bathroom tiled! And we got a new flatscreen for our bedroom! And I painted a flock of bird silhouettes across a wall and it didn't look like ass! And some old homos are gonna reupholster my mid-century Danish couch and it won't have cat barf stains on it anymore! Let's see, what else...oh! I got this hilarious avatar!
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Ironwood on February 22, 2007, 09:22:35 AM I got phoned in the house today by the boss to go over the wage rises and bonuses of my staff. Once we were done, he said 'and what do you want' and I got to tell him some wildly over-inflated figure and hear him say 'ok.'
Sometimes I love my job. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Yegolev on February 22, 2007, 12:44:21 PM About the taxes, it helps to read the rules three or four times before getting all excited, but in any case I think I'll have at least a 360 and a new PC in a week or two, maybe even a Wii if I can find one of the damn things. And an inline water heater, which shall be sweet.
Also, the boy shows signs of wanting to use the toilet. Victory is within sight! Finally: Aria Giovanni. Title: Re: Happy Post by: NowhereMan on February 22, 2007, 06:55:40 PM I found a fun source of THC near the end of my University career. Frankly regardless of my eventual grade that's enough for a few happy faces before I realise that a large amount of work is soon imminient. Hoorah for the UK's lack of shooting people for possessing weed.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Cheddar on February 22, 2007, 08:53:50 PM My monitor is dying. This gives me an excuse to blow some cash on a fancy new one.
I would like to take this time to point out that I make ridiculous amounts of cash to do nothing more than make people feel good. And without 8+ years of college. My job is glorious. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Sky on February 23, 2007, 07:39:43 AM My monitor is dying. This gives me an excuse to blow some cash on a fancy new one. Also, (http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/DLPTV/images/b2c_l_hls6767.jpg) I want something like that (http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/DLPTV/HLS6767WXXAA.asp) for my next monitor. Little bigger (67") and better resolution (1080p) than the current one. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Yegolev on February 23, 2007, 08:15:36 AM My monitor is dying. I will be utterly shitfaced in a mere couple of hours. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Inexorable on February 23, 2007, 03:36:04 PM I'm completely new, so my happiness is probably irrelevant , but I've just recently secured a tremendous opportunity in "The Industry" (games, obviously). Additionally, I'm taking Surlyboi's lead tonight, and am also going to be fucking plastered by nightfall.
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Lantyssa on February 23, 2007, 03:56:46 PM Newbies can be happy, too! Drinks for everyone!
Title: Re: Happy Post by: Inexorable on February 23, 2007, 04:32:54 PM Newbies can be happy, too! Drinks for everyone! Cheers, anyone else doing something noteworthy with their Friday, in terms of happiness and booze? Title: Re: Happy Post by: El Gallo on February 23, 2007, 05:14:04 PM I survived another birthday yesterday, and have finally come to terms with being over 30 so I could actually enjoy it. /woman.
We're looking at pretty cool houses and condos in not-too-horrible areas that we can actually afford and I've been really enjoying my work lately. :-D Title: Re: Happy Post by: Lantyssa on February 23, 2007, 07:20:26 PM Happy belated birthday!

Edit: Sprunga leek? What kind of crazy circus English is that?! Title: Re: Happy Post by: Lantyssa on February 25, 2007, 03:34:24 PM My party was freakin'

Title: Re: Happy Post by: Sky on February 26, 2007, 06:45:02 AM A severed leg made me happy!
Well, it was in FEAR. First time I noticed bodies would get blown apart. Then I got the combat shotgun and when I went around a corner, I cut a guy clean in two. Slow-mo shotgun dismemberments make me happy, I guess. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Yoru on February 26, 2007, 11:30:41 AM It was cold and rainy when I was waiting for the train, but it looks to be a nice warm blue afternoon. :D
Edit: Cold and rainy again. :heartbreak: Title: Re: Happy Post by: Johny Cee on February 26, 2007, 06:02:58 PM One of the local grocery stores has a rack of premade sandwitches.
They sell a "deluxe turkey rustica" that is turkey, cheese, a thin layer of mayonnase, a layer of stuffing, and a thin layer of cranberry on some good bread. It brightens my day whenever I have one. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Viin on February 26, 2007, 07:20:00 PM I'm putting money down for a Subaru engine for my aeroplane tomorrow. Nothing makes me more happy than spending large amounts of money on owning my own airplane - even if it just stays in the garage. There goes the kid's college fund!

It's fun to live vicariously through my son. Well, damn. There goes my idea for the computer room if kids have to be involved. :heartbreak: I'm skipping going onsite again tomorrow (I've just decided this) because I really don't feel like getting up and being on the train platform by 7:30 and there's no GD reason to go onsite anyways. So here's to yet another day of working from home*! *Aka - surfing YouTube for Bleach fansubs. Title: Re: Happy Post by: Hanzii on February 28, 2007, 10:57:13 PM Had my farewell party. My old colleagues gave me a Get a First Life (http://getafirstlife.com/) t-shirt, because I'm always bitching about the mainstream media exposure Second Life gets.... and a bottle of good single malt.
Made me happy (and a bit sad). |
