I got my shammie to 65 1/2 as enhancement spec.  Played resto before that and loved the way earthen shield played out in the game.  But I'm bored of him, haven't leveled him lin ike 4-5 days.  I've been playing my mage (L52) and love my mage, but he's leveling a bit slower than usual.

So I'm thinking about closing my account and opening up my bud's account (he hasn't played like 1 1/2 years) with a 55 druid on it.  Curious about druids, and always enjoy hybrid play (see: shaman), but I miss being able to tank/stealth if needed, and druid seems to fit the bill there.

Q:  If I open up my buds account, can I put in my TBC cd-key in order to upgrade the account to play in Outland? Do I have to close my account first?  Were original WoW cd-keys transferrable between accounts?

I seriously doubt it.  If you've used that TBC account key to upgrade your account, I would be shocked if you could use it to upgrade your friends, since that's kind of the whole point of having the key in the first place.

Oh well, it's not worth $65 just to try something a bit different. :cry:

use one of the buddy keys to upgrade your friend's account.  It will give you ten days to try out the druid. 

Didn't think they had Buddy key's for TBC?

They did in the CE.

If you don't mind the wait, I think you'll want to build up a druid on your own account.  That is probably my favorite class, but I chose it next to last to try, so my druid is one of my lowest levels (currently 52.)  I've fallen to my next two favorites, Rogue and Warlock, for now and they are 62+.

It sounds like you will like the class to me.

There are two buddy passes in the standard edition which say invite a friend into world of warcraft, I assumed they included BC but maybe they don't.

/agree.  It's not that you can use a key to upgrade one account at a time, and it frees up if you cancel.  One key, one account AFAIK.

Can I make a druid and drag him over to the blood elf area? Or is that 9 sides of retarded because of lack of trainers?

I do believe there is a druid trainer in Silvermoon, so it'd just entail a longer walk to train when you needed to for the first few levels. 

Though for the form/etc quests, you'd have to travel back to the relevant areas. 

You mean without installing the expansion?  No, you have to have BC installed to get to Dranei-land or belf-land.

Well, because of the new textures and models, the damn expansion is almost as many CDs as the orig game! A lot of those are used in the starting areas...

actually, im pretty sure that TBC install installs the FULL game, not just the TBC areas.

You shouldnt need to install WoW, then install TBC, cause TBC already has the full origional MPQ files on the install disks.

Do you think your bud would ever re-use his account? what about transferring his druid to your account?

I don't think this is the case.  I tried to install TBC before reinstalling WoW, and it wouldn't let me.  Due to the accretion of patches over the last two years (which are included in TBC) it wouldn't surprise me if the CDs have most of the current game data on them, but it won't let you install fresh from them.

I don't believe they include the expansion. I've been using game cards for me and my wife's accounts as they work out cheaper then using the CC, and each game card comes with the same 10-day trial card that our copies of BC had.

Don't think that will work. I believe to transfer between accounts, both accounts have to be under the same name.

I have thought about this before.  If memory serves, if the same credit card is paying for both, you can do it.

I promised my kid an account of his own if he keeps his grades up through the rest of the year. (He's shown a weird and sudden urge towards responsibilty. I thought I'd reward that). Since he's got toons under my account and my wife's account, I'll just give him a flat up choice: Pick one set and we'll transfer them. I've just got to remember to put them under the right name.
