Title: Madness has overwhelmed me...
Post by: WayAbvPar on January 29, 2007, 03:08:31 PM
I felt a burning need for some lewt whoring and some mindnumbing catassedness. I paid $54.40 (fucking state internet tax) to transfer my 2 highest level characters (48 and 35) from Earthen Ring to Steamwheedle Cartel (where Fur and my other RL buddy are playing). I then subbed for 6 months, just for piece of mind (and because I have gone batshit crazy).

Anyone else from here on Steamwheedle? Any advice?

Alliance or Horde? I have three Alliance characters on SWC, I think it's a great server.

Horde. Enemy!

Oh well. Furiously plays Horde on SWC, maybe you can track him down.

Livin' up to the name, son.  He mentioned Furiously in the first post, as they know each other all too well.  :-o

Now that I am finally done patching (jesus!), I need to respec my 35 mage and my 48 rogue. I haven't played for 18 months, so I am guessing things have changed a bit. Any links to some decent builds? I found some through the WoW forums, but I trust you folks a bit more than them   :-D

I also just noticed that I typed 'piece of mind' in the OP. I am obviously WAY out of my gourd.

You'll have free respecs on both.

For rogue -- 2 points in Improved Sap is a must have. 100% chance of sapping without breaking stealth.

For mage? I'm partial to a deep, deep, DEEP frost build -- there's hardly a talent there I don't want.

The coolest thing about improved sap is it never puts you in combat with the mob you sap. So you can sap a mob, kill it's buddy then stealth and wander off.

Hell, just being able to restealth and get that first opener is huge.  I took down a whole village of Naga last night by myself in less than 15 minutes this way.

With the new itemization and additional skills/talents, my rogue is way more powerful than before the expansion.  As long as I watch my back for too many adds, I can take down most anything (non-elite.)  I'm really having a lot of fun with him now.

... Any advice?

Now quit WoW and never play again! Or delete the characters. Sorry, just looking for the batshit crazy angle.

Heh. If and when I decide I am truly done, I might just do that. Be like Costanza trying to get fired from the Yankees. God that would be fun.

I liked him trying to get fired from Play Now. You've got a six-month contract with Blizzard. They CAN'T fire you

Fuck, I started a new character on my wife's unused account. I couldn't resist it any longer. I started an alliance rogue on The Venture Co. but I could make a Horde on Steamwheedle. It won't be anything I've played before, maybe an undead hunter (is that even possible) or a tauren hunter. Is Steamwheedle a PVP or RPP server?

It's a roleplay server.

*sigh*

Steamwheedle, okay but what's the consensus on faction?  Horde?  I have no problem re-rolling, and I have a couple mid level toons I might could transfer over there but where's everyone at on the server faction and level-wise?

Horde.

I have a 52 rogue and a 42 mage. I am itching to try a shammy at some point too, so I will probably start one soon and then pick up TBC so I can run the new quests in the Blood Elf area.

Fur has a 45 pally and a 59 priest IIRC. Another RL friend has a 59 mage and 42 warlock.

Well I've been itching to try out Blood Elves to see the starting area so I've rolled a couple alts on Steemwheedle. Hopefully a nice alternative to the Hellfire ganking on my main right now (63 alliance rogue).

Hunter = Maulim
Priest = Mauten

My chraracters are Grishak (52 rogue) and Anyaala (42 mage). Friend me and give me a shout when you are online. I am hoping to play a lot this weekend; we'll see how much my wife allows  :-D :-D

Well, I have a handful of toons on various servers that I could move over, both Horde and Alliance.  I think the best would be too move my 30ish Orc Shaman over.  I have my main on ED available to transfer too but I hesitate because I mainly use him to PvP with.

So, I think I'll pay to move my Shammie over, his name is Kempus, but it will take a couple of days for the transfer to go through.

I was able to move my characters over in like 10 minutes...they say it can take longer but I have heard that is the exception rather than the rule.

I catassed this weekend (well, catassing for me). My Undead Priest is named Sheldun (as in Sheldun the Wonder Schlong) and is 13. I have a Tauren Hunter named Haemcow that I haven't even logged in yet.

I mailed the 'cow a couple of goodies too, btw =)

I should probably log him on at some point then. :) That robe and staff thingie were quite helpful to Sheldun, thank you very much.

I just upgraded my account to TBC; I wanna try a shammy and level him in the BE area. Maybe we could n00b it up together soon.

No expansion for me for a while, or at least until I'm deadset I'll be playing more than a month.

I don't think there are any shaman trainers in Silvermoon and no easy way to get between there and Org.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you're right about the shaman trainers, but getting to Org is not too bad, if you just want to experience the BE area.  You could set your hearthstone in Silvermoon and every two levels, click the orb (to get to UC) and take the zepplin to Org.  It's a little more time overhead but not too bad, and the BE starting area is worth it IMO.

Not to appear as being soft here.. but..

You can always just make an elf.

I wouldn't want to give up all of that faction from doing your home area quests.  It does come in handy at times.

Can BEs be shamans? I am not sure I can bring myself to play an elf regardless, but I assumed they couldn't since they got to be paladins instead.

Nope:  mage, warlock, hunter, rogue, priest or paladin (from memory).

edited to add:  You can also go roll through all the home area quests for your faction once you get close to 40 and mount time, which is really where it comes in handy.  I had to do that on a dwarf a while back because I went to Westfall at the first opportunity and didn't get all my Ironforge faction.   The home area quests now give you full faction (and it's a lot) for doing the quests at whatever level.

I remember seeing a druid trainer in Silvermoon, so perhaps there's a shaman one as well.  If it turns out there's a trainer for everything there, I'm considering running a tauren warrior across the world to level in the new areas.  <Insert obligatory whining about travel boredom in Kalimdor newb zones here>

There's no warrior or shaman trainer in Silvermoon :(  I ran an undead warrior over to level, and have to use the teleporter to UC for training.  Not too far, but still no trainer in town.

I think the druid trainer was added to counter the "But Stormwind has a druid trainer!" woes.

I've gone to Silvermoon with a 60 Tauren, and the rep from the newbie quests is minimal. 12-25 a pop.  Seems like it is rep/10.

Maybe it's full for Tranquillien, but Silvermoon was stingy.

Or, do you mean, your own home area, always gives you full rep for quests?

Strange.  I have heard from multiple people that the newbie areas were patched to give fulll rep a few patches ago.  I guess either I heard wrong or it doesn't scale to 60.

Could be that I tried it before said patch too.

I was reading through a few things on wowwiki.com last night, and came across a note that apparently, as of like January 27, the 'fixed' rep rewards for quests was no longer functioning.  I'm hoping that it's something that'll be fixed at a later date, but I can't shake the feeling that it won't be.  Shame, I was hoping to get great reps with all the Horde once I got a mount to go through the lowbie quests quickly.

My level 29 Blood Elf Rogue has been doing the Orgrimmar newbie quests for faction, and I've found that I get approximately 250 rep for each one.  This is as of Feb 19.

Questing from 1-6 in Goldshire and 12-20 in the Dranei zone got my human priest honored with Exodar and Stormwind both.
