My main will be on Varking (Team PvP) and will be a Thestran Human (is that the "good" team? Orcs, Goblin and Dark elves are on the other team).

My alt, that could become a main should the PvP be horrible, will be on Targonor, quiet and old PvE.

You can't be wrong, as all my characters are ladies and named Ruri or Lefteye. If you met a Ruri or a Lefteye it's me or someone who wish to die in real life.

Hilsbury.

If you care, necros, rangers and disciplies (a healer-monk) were the three most badass classes in beta. I played a monk, sorceror and ranger and liked ranger the best, although I never got over 5th level and the sorceror was the first pure caster I have ever tried in a modern (post-UO)  MMO.

I haven't yet decided what server i"m going to be on, but i'll be a PvE something.  Maybe Targonor if that's where this board is going, or not if I manage to substantially piss off the majority of this board between now and tomorrow.   :-D

In order to piss people off, they have to care about what you say.  That being the case, I don't think you have much to worry about.

I might get the game in a little while.  I'm definitely going wait until the amount of lag, server instability and client instability are apparently reasonable.

Not a particularly useful statement, I know.

When I do play, I'll probably just pick whatever server you guys are playing on.  I'll be a bard, blood mage, or psi most likely.  Although there will likely be a need for defensive fighters, I just don't think I have it in me to play one.

If I had a new computer, I'd probably check it out. Not sure when I'll be able to afford a new computer. This is in no way a solicitation! ;)

Maybe Cheddar could swing one of these, Sky....?

Scientists attempt to run Vanguard on TRS-80s to simulate black holes.

I would imagine if you can play on your 60" monitor, you can run VG :)

If you just wait until the server consolidation in June, you won't have to go through this shit now.

Damnit people. This is a roster thread. Put your TRS-80s in the Vanguard NDA thread.

Ok, though I'm probably way more excited than I should be about a game that was rapidly patching up until the very end of beta, I'm finally about to hit the sack.  But, before I do:

Targonor - Disciple.

It's only 1280x720. An 8800 is going to slaughter that display. I hope it'll allow me to run with many bells plus whistles. I also hope in three to five years I can swing an LCD 1080p version...

Oops, roster thread, sorry. If I do buckle and get Vanguard, I'll hit Targonor as a necromancer (my EQ character reborn). But I probably won't get around to it until next fall, and you'll all be playing  :nda: or something.

About 3/4 of my gaming e-buddies are lurkers/do not post at f13.  Do not feel like you need a red carpet invite to join us!

I demand you roll on Targonor as evil.  Consider that an order.

Booby slider?     Unlikely <-------------------------O--> Ludicrous

Title: Re: Vanguard Roll Call
Post by: Flood on January 26, 2007, 09:33:14 AM
I'll at least buy the box and check it out.

So with what little knowledge I have of the game:

Targonor > Dunno for race Kojani or Vulmane maybe > PvP yes! > Something evil.  Will probably end up being a Necro, but Inquisitor, Bloodmage and Druid all look interesting.

I'm not sure there is an inquisitor anymore.

I did write up a slightly outdated class comparison page (http://geldonsgaming.blogspot.com/2007/01/engaged-in-saga-of-heroes-class.html).  It's not comprehensive, just a bit of firsthand experience with rolling each up and giving them a test drive.

Yep, there's also a perkiness slider (can't remember the offical name).

Grandma <-------------------------------------0--> Gravity defying

For those contemplating getting a Station Access pass and don't yet own most of the other games, there are a few 3rd party sellers at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000EDVRTQ/ref=olp_tab_new/002-8774055-3708053?ie=UTF8&seller=&condition=new) who are selling the Station Access Collection, new for around $5-6.  You know... in case you have the urge one night to play Planetside, EQ2, or in a bout of masochism, SWG or the Matrix.

Not sure how long I'll last though.  This game full of problems.

Masoko Tanga (monk) - Florendyl

Ditto.  I'm keeping in mind that the game will need to go through its standard post-launch bug-squashing phase and I'm being very tolerable, but it's the performance that's really getting to me.  Out in the wild, everything's pretty smooth (most of the time), but get inside a city and shit goes haywire.  It's all VERY reminiscent of Horizons.

It's too bad that they didn't follow WoW's  lead in the area of game engine/visuals.  You can run that game on some pretty damn weak hardware with no problems at all.

My main for now is Darkmane - level 7 vulmane druid on Hilsbury. I have never played a caster class before but druids get SoW and Levitate just like in EQ1 and I can already see that travel is going to be a major time sink in this game.

Garrick the Dark Knight on Tharridon (FFA PVP).

Yes, I know - I'm a masochist.

I started on Taragonor or whatever it is.  I can't decide on my main though.

I'm trying to choose from Bard, disciple, blood mage, shaman, monk, psionicist, druid.

Yes, I'm bad at this sort of thing.

I'm on Hilsbury now with six different characters (I think I like the starting areas the most).

If you are on Hilbury and play casually, feel free to friend Darkmane. I have actually found it reasonably easy to get pickup groups so far.

Title: Re: Vanguard Roll Call
Post by: Engels on February 05, 2007, 11:03:16 AM
Same here. In fact, if you are a casual, family oriented player who wants a no-pressure guild, I can introduce you to my online family, and we can see how it goes from there. But remember, when I say casual and family oriented, I really mean it. We do not organise raids, or have any pressure to level, or even 'schedule' grouping times. Any of the catassing that many guilds do while at the same time purporting to be family friendly is entirely out.

If you are actually a person focused on raiding, or getting ahead in a competitive environment, there are other guilds out there for you.

You can contact me through either a toon called Tinna or a toon called Engels, both on Hillsbury.

Garrick the Dark Knight on Tharridon (FFA PVP).

Yes, I know - I'm a masochist.

I've betrayed my anti-McQuaid faith, and rolled up a blood mage on Tharridon named Verloren.

I came with a guild called Eternal Avatar who are mostly dicks, but they're taking an anti-RPK stance, so, I hope they wont do anything to make you hate me too much.

Pretty hardcore though when you get PKed as you enter a town before you can get to a bind stone, and get sent a bazillion miles away to make the trip over again, on top of losing a bunch of money. -.-

What's really hardcore is people camping the crafting tutorial area... lol. Or ganking you in the middle of a diplo match.

My real question is, what's RPK?
