Corum Online, which was a huge success in both Korea and Japan, is a fantasy MMORPG with a very unique Guild and Dungeon system. Guilds and Clans unite in order to not only clear dungeons and instances for loot, but also to claim those places as their own. Instances all over the world can be controlled and owned by guilds. Those instances give those guilds certain bonuses such as resources or even power. Not only that but you can train and summon your own guardians that will defend these instances for you while you're away.

Like all GPotato games, Corum Online will also be Free to Play so your current GPotato ID can be used to start right away! So what are you waiting for?!

Flyff was cool in that you could jump, and it was a Lineage clone.

If that's so, I'm sure it must be an accident.

Well, I managed to download the client to my #2 system, installed, and made it to the server logon splash screen without anything bad happening.

Server not up yet, so there it sits.

The forums seem a bit short on info, both by posters and from the devs.  For example: Beginner Guide, 8 hours before beta launch (http://corum.gpotato.com/?i=beginnerguide).

Posters seem unsure whether things like PvP will be in the game.  Hopefully such things will become clearer soon.

GPotato games are free to play but have real money purchases for various game-advantagous stuff to have, like a token that boosts your experience gain or gives you a 30% defense buff.

GPotato doesn't actually make games, they just seem to re-release various Eastern games, of which there are no shortage thanks to wired Korea.  Not that I really care what country made the game so long as it's fun. 

Flyff was yet another Lineage/Ragnarok Online clone (which probably ultimately can be boiled down to an attempt to take Korea's Diablo obssession massively multiplayer) with a prepubescent witch twist, or somesuch, but it fell short on depth.

Space Cowboy was an interesting game in that it was a MMORPG that played like a rudimentary flight simulator, but it too fell short on depth.

Corum I have no idea how it's going to play, but it looks to me like it's a Dungeon Siege with a couple of twists involving conflicting elements (http://corum.gpotato.com/?i=alignment) and ownership of dungeons (http://corum.gpotato.com/?i=dungeon).  It could be good... it probably isn't.

Oh well, the gamers in the niche, "too young to have a credit card" will probably enjoy it.

Well reading up on the website I've discovered that the land of pure evil is called Darth Ted.

This is going to be the best game ever.

EDIT:  That Bill & Ted game owned.  I never came close to beating it or even figuring out exactly what the fuck I was supposed to be doing, but going around saying shit like "Sir Knight, your stench is most rank.  Haven't you ever heard of soap?" and throwing pudding cups at peasants was awesome.

Dear god. That screenshot caused me to develop a spontaneous migraine, too damn much pink and that little cat thing and those weird looking shields, not to mention the textures looked low rez.

I didn't find the avatars nearly as annoying as the area entrances/exits, which were not well marked on the tiny mini-map, and generally were next to a wall which could hide them from view.

Lag was too much for my old 1.1 gig 512meg ram system in town, and my 2.4 gig 1 gig ram system wouldn't complete the auto patch, hanging eternally at the last step.

On my #2 system I did manage to engage in mortal combat with giant spiky bipedal cucumbers, and with that vegetal victory I will conclude my adventures in Corum.

I'm sorry, but I don't see large-breasted nonfurry human female types in there.

In that screens hot Schild provided, it seems that they have a mood broadcasting system of a small floating sphere on the upper right of each character. 

Interestingly, it seems that each one of those spheres are either looking depressed or yawning.

I saw that, but was powerless to fix it.

Fortunately.  That was awesome.

I never noticed the mood spheres, possibly because the game looked like pastel mud to me.  I was reminded again of how much information any mmo is trying to convey to the player, and how confusing text conveyance is to the new player.  There is a killer app in there, somewhere, and I don't mean Teamspeak.

That game looks like someone vomited oatmeal with various types food coloring in it all over the screen

I never considered it to be pronounced that way - since it's German for "Shield" I always thought of his name more teutonically - "Shh-illd"

Though "Sweet Schild of Mine" could be an interesting tune...

I'll try to remember to rez this thread when I try Corum after they do their initial beta wipe (01/26).  Also perhaps I will dump some info about Scions of Fate (if its even worth talking about) after it opens 1st beta tomorrow as there isn't much read to spread the anti-Kgame hate to multiple threads.

I pronounce Schild quietly, where nobody can hear me butcher it with my failed grasp of its enigmatic ways.
