Title: My verdict on Twilight Princess: the sux Post by: Triforcer on January 09, 2007, 03:53:40 PM I wanted to love it. I really, really wanted to (I have plenty of earlier fanboish posts on this very board about it). But I just realized that I haven't touched the game in two weeks (beat the Sand Temple as my last thing). Every time I pick up my Wii, I bowl or stick in something fun on Gamecube (lately I've been really into Simpsons Hit and Run- damn good game if you see it in the bargain bin). Why is this?
There are a lot of little things (the color pallette- Kakariko village looks like the village in RE4, for example) but the biggest problem is simply- THE WORLD IS TOO LARGE AND EMPTY. In Ocarina of Time, in Majora's Mask, even in Wind Waker, it seemed like every every square inch of these "smaller" worlds was jam-packed with stuff. I could walk in any direction and find something fun to do or see. TP has the SWG disease- the world is huge, but 98% of it is galloping over a featureless, soulless random terrain generator. I know there are warps (and I am at the point where I can use them in either form) but there is nothing fucking to LOOK AT. Between every dungeon and city is four gigantic green fields filled with nothing. Where are the huts and minigames? Where are the holes in the ground leading to weird little mazes and heart pieces? Even in Wind Waker, there was the occassional shark or whirlwind to liven up the journey. I thought the game would get bigger when I was thrown into the eastern province- but no. I spend 10 minutes walking over a featureless desert, where the grant total of extras seemed to be a chest with 20 rupees and ruins consisting of three big blocks and a couple of the animate statues. Give me small WoW/EQ1 zones that are handcrafted and jampacked with personality over a continent of nothing. TP is the worst of all the console zeldas I've played (never played the NES ones). bleh- back to hit and Run and maybe a new Wind Waker file. Title: Re: My verdict on Twilight Princess: the sux Post by: Megrim on January 10, 2007, 07:43:02 AM Hrmm... lack of Schild detected.
Title: Re: My verdict on Twilight Princess: the sux Post by: NiX on January 10, 2007, 10:13:41 AM I recall Schild complaining about Twilight Princess too. So, I don't know if you should be counting on him to say something to Triforcer. Unless he finds what he's complaining about really stupid.
Title: Re: My verdict on Twilight Princess: the sux Post by: Yegolev on January 10, 2007, 11:41:44 AM Schild had different complaints.
Title: Re: My verdict on Twilight Princess: the sux Post by: CmdrSlack on January 10, 2007, 11:43:15 AM Isn't TP the game that spawned Schild's pseudo-boycott?
Both the Gamecube version and the Wii version? Title: Re: My verdict on Twilight Princess: the sux Post by: Riggswolfe on January 10, 2007, 02:02:18 PM My prediction was based on him finding common ground to wage hate on Zelda.
