Saw him in '98, and he was still doing the splits at 65 years old.  The man was a bad ass.

RIP.

Some of the most joyful, invigorating music ever. If you popped in James Brown on the way to work, you'd never have a bad day.

The man could move (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs1HUbMCZKc). Even my generation can't help but see what a loss this is.

I highly recommend the Say It Live and Loud - Dallas 8/26/68 (http://www.amazon.com/Say-Live-Loud-Dallas-08-26-68/dp/B000009QMM). I got this one from the library collection and was stunned, it's an incredible album, one of my favorites. I love throwing it on for long road trips, keeps the good times rollin' along. People have recommended the Apollo album, which is good...but not as good as this one.

Another incredible talent gone before I had a chance to see him. I really need to get out and see Buddy Guy this year. Where are the modern James Browns? James Brown wouldn't bother to shit on Jay-Z.

Heaven just got a lot funkier.

James Brown was a prisoner (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USTilaOqNHM)

Rest in Peace, James Brown.

He was black and he was proud.

He was also a thief and a wife beater.  A great GREAT entertainer... not much of a rolemodel though.

The music industry lost a true entertaining genius.
