"The answer was 'no' until a few nights ago, when I had an epic dream in which I was, simultaneously, Harry and the narrator," she wrote. "Perhaps I should cut back on the caffeine?" she joked.[/quoite] Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: angry.bob on December 22, 2006, 06:24:13 PM My wife and I argued about if she was soing to kill him off in this book or not. My bet was on yes, as it's painfully obvious she hates writing and just wants to enjoy more money than she could burn in her lifetime with an automated money burning robot.
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: WindupAtheist on December 22, 2006, 09:31:46 PM If she kills Potter off, I'm totally convinced some sixteen year old girl will go all Kathy Bates in Misery on her ass. Which is awesome, so let's hope it happens.

I hope she doesn't - that would such a fucking lazy ending. Anyway, actual reason for the necropost is that a release date of 21st July has now been set, and the Book is finished according Rowling interviews all over the damn the place. Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Merusk on February 09, 2007, 09:10:54 AM Well it's confirmed that 2 characters die. I'm going with Ron and Snape, as I agree with Eldaec that killing Harry is just lazy.
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Samwise on February 09, 2007, 11:55:04 AM Any bets on how long before the book (or at least the most spoilerrific excerpt) gets leaked to the Internet, now that it's all done?
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: bhodi on February 09, 2007, 12:01:07 PM Generally, when it goes to the presses, there's a leak in that chain somewhere. I expect 1 month before release.
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Lantyssa on February 09, 2007, 12:59:02 PM I'm betting one of them is Dumbledore.
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: eldaec on February 09, 2007, 02:24:18 PM One of the leaks?
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: schild on February 11, 2007, 04:43:09 PM Are you allowed to mock in this thread (http://forums.f13.net/index.php?topic=9299.0) and still like Harry Potter?
I don't think so. Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Llava on February 12, 2007, 04:59:09 AM Sure you are.
You can like the Lord of the Rings books/movies and still make fun of LIGHTNING BOLT! LIGHTNING BOLT! LIGHTNING BOLT! Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Samwise on February 12, 2007, 09:33:38 AM (http://www.brunching.com/images/geekchartbig.gif)

On stage. In front of other people. :-o Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Samwise on February 28, 2007, 12:48:22 PM Quote To concentrate on the sensational aspects of Thea Sharrock's production, however, would be a disservice to its star's accomplished and thoroughly committed performance. I'll take "sentences you would never see in an American newspaper" for $400, Alex. Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: schild on March 28, 2007, 07:49:28 PM Does it remove the faggy wizard kid bits and replace it with awesome? Is it like the Jar Jar edit?
I kid, I kid. Or do I? Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: RhyssaFireheart on March 28, 2007, 09:23:07 PM They have adult covers? I would have guessed the adult covers would involve horse pr0n. Live and learn I suppose. Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Nevermore on March 29, 2007, 05:24:54 AM Those are the US cover and UK adult cover. There's also a UK kids cover that looks like an explosion of suck.
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Tebonas on March 29, 2007, 05:40:32 AM Yeah, I heard there were different US covers for Terry Pratchett books as well, because the UK ones were too complicated and complicated covers sell less books in the USA. First I laughed because I thought it was a joke, but it seems that it is a widespread practice for international books to have a simpler US cover.
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Numtini on March 29, 2007, 05:48:50 AM Well, in the case of the Potter books in America, one has a different title and they all have different text with spelling a item names Americanized. I'm trying to remember, but I think the children's edition might have a different slightly larger typeface as well.
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Riggswolfe on March 29, 2007, 06:24:31 AM I'm looking forward to this book probably more than anything else this summer. A statement that three or four years ago I wouldn't have made before the fateful Christmas season I worked in a B Dalton's Bookstore. I was literally the only employee from the stockboy up to the high management who had not read Harry Potter. I got a lecture about how they weren't children's books and borrowed the first book from a friend.
Damn those things are addicting and I couldn't tell you why. I'm looking forward to the last one. Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Miasma on March 29, 2007, 07:09:48 AM They sell the adult covers in Canada too, whenever one of the books is released there are always at least six people per subway compartment reading them and they are usually the adult covers.
Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Llava on March 29, 2007, 02:24:21 PM They should have them in the US. I might've read them by now if not for those ridiculous covers.
And I know I'm not supposed to do that. Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Merusk on March 29, 2007, 02:53:02 PM They should have them in the US. I might've read them by now if not for those ridiculous covers. And I know I'm not supposed to do that. It's easy enough to buy them, then take off the dust jacket. Hell I do that anyway, because the jacket gets ripped to hell travelling to and from work in my and my wife's bags. Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Llava on March 29, 2007, 03:04:02 PM Not my point. I've bought books, I know the dust jacket comes off. :-P
Point is that I'm vaguely interested in checking out the series, then I see the cover and it instantly extinguishes any enthusiasm I might've had. Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Rasix on March 29, 2007, 03:13:07 PM Appearances deceive and all that..
Yah, I'll be gone from the internet a week prior to release and however long it takes me to read the book. Spoiling this one is going to be a sport for some people. UK kids cover, so you see, it could be worse than the US cover after all. Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Triforcer on March 29, 2007, 07:25:18 PM Jesus, that cover is bad. I never would've gotten into Potter if they looked like that over here.

Man, it might be time for me to start (http://www.theonion.com/content/video/j_k_rowling_hints_at_harry_potter) reading these books! Title: Re: Potter 7 titled '...and the Deathly Hallows' Post by: Righ on June 22, 2007, 09:13:45 PM So Hermione is going to be date raped by Ron before she's brutally killed in some manner involving her lungs? Adds a few pages, plus makes the death a bit of a release. No doubt the funeral will be ostentatious and predatory.
