Title: Flash bootable drive for tablet PC
Post by: Viin on December 15, 2006, 01:42:28 PM
Hola!

Let me start off with the end product I'm looking for: a tablet PC with a bootable flash drive (running Windows XP Tablet Edition). Ideally for less than $3000.

So I'm looking at a Fujitsu T4215 (http://store.shopfujitsu.com/fpc/Ecommerce/buildseriesbean.do?series=T4215&ptype=NB) or ST5100 (http://store.shopfujitsu.com/fpc/Ecommerce/buildseriesbean.do?series=ST5100&ptype=TB) (or similar Tablet PCs by other vendors), but haven't seen any that come with Flash drives. There is a tablet PC by MotionComputing that can come with a flash drive (20gb I think) but it's over $4k (and isn't even on their website yet).

Any idears for how to get a bootable flash drive on those puppies?

I have found a regular-HDD-form-factor SATA Flash drive but it was $2000 just for the drive. There's a 16gb IDE flash drive (Super Talent (http://meritline.stores.yahoo.net/super-talent-2-5-inch-ide-flash-micro-drive-16gb.html)) but I don't think that can fit in a tablet.. but as I've never had one, I'm not sure!
