Title: Rainbow 6 - Las Vegas
Post by: Strazos on November 04, 2006, 07:45:05 PM
It's coming out in a bit more than 2 weeks for the 360. Is this on anyone's radar?

I put in some time on the demo the other night, and I have to say - If I owned a 360 (which I do not), I would Have to get this. The last Rainbow 6 game I have actually owned is the original.

The game seems to have "borrowed" a few mechanics from other games, such as the firing-from-cover stuff seen in Gears of War (also in others), and the easily-executed contextual actions from such games as Splinter Cell. Main difference is that it's mostly played in First-person. Also has a great system to direct your team - you simply point where you want them to go, and press the appropriate button (usually A). Then they go and do what makes the most sense; point at a crate stack, and they go and use it for cover. You can also select targets.

The nightvision/heatvision were also very nifty.

You could get the new Ghost Recon game on the PC (first came out on 360). It's cool if you like tactical shooters.

Needs some pretty hardcore system specs though.

Specs....yeah....

The fan on my x800 XT AIW is currently dead, so I can't do shit that involves...well...

I can play BG1 with no problems, and watch videos. That's about it.

Gogo Newegg warranties. I'm 0 for 3 this year with high-tech toys.

At least from what I played, you don't have to babysit. They seemed to do well enough on their own without my direction, and when I wanted them to do something specific (like lets all crash through the windows at the same time, you take that guy, and you take that other guy), it's very simple. No hassle involved.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the R6 series, especially with online play. Is it coming out for PC as well? I will never play a shooter on a console...daddy don't aim with his thumbs.

Yes, there will be a PC release for it, though I believe the 360 version has a head-start.

Damn - I wanted to buy it.

Also it wasnt very good. I bought it mainly for the singleplayer, which turned out to be a exersize in frustration. And the Coop, which was even more frustrating. Worst Coop idea ever. Once player was the "main" player, and if he got killed, game over, restart the mission.

*Edit*
The 360 version was a completely different game, and from what I hear, and much better game. So if you have a 360, go rent it.

That sounds like the worst Co-op ever. I loved it in whatever the one was with the silenced sniper-rifle.
