So this is my friend Melanie. She LOVES guitar Hero. She was playing Saturday night with her boyfriend, and started to rock out so hard she tripped over the couch, fell over backwards, and hit her head on a doorjam.

She got 8 staples in the back of her head. This was a picture I took with my cell phone this morning as she told me excitedly about it. She was actually happy. She thinks it is very cool she has a video game related injury.

Her quote was " I AM the guitar hero".

Dayum. Can't say I've ever hurt myself gaming. Never hurt myself rocking out with real guitars either. The closest I've come is a broken string that whipped me across the face.

The closest I have come to a gaming injury is punching a wall or pounding my chair after something annoying happens. Thankfully I do less of that in my frail dotage.

I've collected a lot of contusions and abrasions playing guitar, but never anything like that. Rock on, Guitar Hero, rock on.

Sounds like Metalocalypse, where DethKlok's fans are proud of injuries (or death) when attending Dethklok's concerts.

I don't feel so bad about the blown receiver that the Guitar Hero 2 Demo caused. (lack of ventilation and too much dust helped)

Tell her to get well and rock on.

Speaking of Guitar Hero, my buddy had it running when me and a friend went into a Gamestop today. It was there and all, so I had to try it, at least once...

I officially recant every bad thing I ever said about the game. Ever. I can definitely see how it is fun.




I still don't like DDR though.

Sign me up as someone who doesn't get why people go nuts over this guitar hero thing. I played it, it was dumb, I didn't play it again.

I'm not nuts about it, but it Can be fun -

1) It's easy to play, hard to master. The first time I played, on easy, it almost sounded like I knew what I was doing. Then I watched my buddy play on hard, and it was crazy.

2) Related to number one, you may suck with a guitar, but in Guitar Hero, you can sound like a rock star.

She just sent me an IM that she is heading home, and she is going to take a photo of herself playing Guitar Hero with a helmet on. She wins.

That may be a bit painful with recent trauma in the area...especially with longer hair.

I need to marry this woman and ensure that there'll be a future ex-Mrs. Big Gulp.

I want to see more games with these highly physical interfaces. DDR, Guitar Hero, that tennis thing on the Wii where you act out the shot. It's gotta happen. Solve the obesity crisis by combining exercise with videogames.
