I'm sort of with Righ here. I do not feel any compelling need to have offspring. Folks with children often consider this selfish, but I could in turn ask why you, in particular, have to have a child. Is there something particularly special about your genes that mankind ought to have your progeny? Its not like there's a short supply of humans on the planet.

Don't get me wrong; if you're like Ironwood, someone who's so financially stable that he's leveled his toon to level 60 in life's professional career and just doesn't know what to do with all his phat lewt, by all means, have a child, and enjoy it. But if you're working at Radio Shack for $10 an hour with rudimentary health coverage, for the love of those around you, do the rest of us a favor and don't bring another life into existence if you are going to have to live in baseline poverty and be an additional burden to your family. That is selfish.

I agree with Engels completely.  Just saying.  I don't try to convince people to have kids, even though it really is the most awesome thing to happen to me.  It's as difficult as it is rewarding and if you can't or don't want to, PLEASE don't.
