Title: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Xanthippe on September 15, 2006, 11:06:05 AM Toontown launched a major new expansion with gardening.
All I know about it is that you can buy a gardening kit at your estate, plant jellybeans to grow flowers, sell the flowers, plant gags to make gag-trees to make your gags more powerful. Apparently you can get more laff points as you become more proficient at growing flowers, which require different combinations of jellybeans. I'm not sure if you can grow more jellybeans. Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Reg on September 15, 2006, 01:18:47 PM Does anyone here play this? I resubscribed for a month last January and have been thinking about checking it out again for a couple of weeks.
Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Furiously on September 15, 2006, 01:20:04 PM They certainly make un-subbing a royal pain. Call the 1-800 number. Hold for 30 minutes, tell them yes- cancel me.
Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Reg on September 15, 2006, 01:23:44 PM Hmm, I must have just picked good times to unsubscribe I guess. I've never had to wait at all. The last time I resubscribed I had to call in to get my character restored but I just checked it and this time all I have to do is give them my credit card number.
But yes, having to phone in to unsubscribe is just plain stupid. Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Bstaz on September 15, 2006, 03:57:13 PM My wife quit WoW and she just plays toon town now. From what I sense it is more like playing an arcade game for her and fits in nicely with her short but frequent ability to play, not to mention our 3.5 yr son can understand enough to actually play as well. not that mom shares much :) I think another draw for her is the lack of chat, she doesn't have to put up with the stupid like she did in WoW, though she says she does miss the social side of meeting actual adulting acting adults. She also spends way too much time decorating and rearranging the toons house and is excited about the gardening additions. Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Xanthippe on September 15, 2006, 05:39:25 PM Does anyone here play this? I resubscribed for a month last January and have been thinking about checking it out again for a couple of weeks. I do, but sporatically. I've never unsubscribed, because it's relatively cheap and because I want to support the game. They get a lot of things right. Like the whole chat thing is great for kids. Content is added at a reasonable pace. My toon is at the point now where I'm spending all my time in Donald's Dreamland, and it's a pain because I don't play regularly, and my tasks are things like 8 4-story buildings and 25 number crunchers in DDL and so on. I take out a couple of cogs and have to get more gags. Slow because I'm not in buildings much, I'm soloing mostly. My social network in the game is non existent. Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: schild on September 15, 2006, 06:27:49 PM Eeeeeeek. Gardening? I hear the lawn gnomes on the back of my neck going "woo woo."
Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Jimbo on September 16, 2006, 08:26:00 AM My son and I have pretty much kept only Toontown and CoX as our paying games, with BF2 and Titan Quest being the others we've played lately.
My name is Sheriff Banjo Beanzapper and my son's is Bob. Drop me a hi if any of you are playing when I'm on. Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Xanthippe on September 17, 2006, 08:20:59 AM Miss Pearl Poodlemuffin
I'd be happy to get/give a secret friend code. Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Jamiko on September 17, 2006, 06:29:46 PM Have to call to unsubscribe. Have to call to resubscribe. Big no-no in my book. Business lost for good.
Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Blackguard on September 19, 2006, 12:05:30 AM I'd be interested to see how gardening is in Toontown. One of my favorite aspects of the game is its mini-games. For example, they do Fishing better than anyone out there. I can actually have fun sitting around fishing for more than an hour. I'm one of those who has been too lazy to call the 800 number to unsubscribe but I removed it from my computer about a month ago so I don't feel like installing it to check gardening our. ;)

Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Blackguard on September 19, 2006, 01:14:36 AM Whoa. Refreshing RSS Feed Sig Image Advertisement thing. Dangerous precedent. Yeah. I like the theory of it, but it looks like crap and can't be customized (there are two options... white or hard to read grey).Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: schild on September 19, 2006, 01:16:52 AM Yea, I don't really like the theory of it either. :P

Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Furiously on September 19, 2006, 11:59:05 AM These discussions of avatars and sigs always makes me sad, because I turned them off, but not sad enough to turn them back to showing.
Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Soln on September 19, 2006, 12:14:16 PM Blackguard, saw the resignation note today (http://www.nerfbat.com/?p=153). You off to build something? Too soon to tell?
Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Signe on September 19, 2006, 01:58:03 PM That was a lovely letter and even kept in the spirit of this solemn holiday, Talk Like A Pirate Day.
Good luck! My avatar is Gaara of the Sand.If anyone knows a way to adblock to stop just Signe's, that'd be helpful. I tried to block it but it comes back when she switches. Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Nebu on September 19, 2006, 02:39:42 PM I bet it goes away after pirate day. Maybe we'll get feet again.

I don't see how your avatard is any better looking than my avatard! What's wrong with you people, anyway? IT'S A PIRATE BABY! It's not gross or bloody or pukey looking! Geez. Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Blackguard on September 19, 2006, 04:38:39 PM Blackguard, saw the resignation note today (http://www.nerfbat.com/?p=153). You off to build something? Too soon to tell? Too soon to tell. Hopefully I'll have something coming after I do my thing in Denver for a while. I'll let you folks know here if/when that happens.Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: schild on September 19, 2006, 04:44:02 PM Hm, once of my friends just left a industry job to do something in Denver. or something.
Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Jimbo on September 19, 2006, 06:23:41 PM Did the thing with Sony and bringing Toontown to the PS2 ever get off the drawing boards? I remember a few posts saying that they were supposed to help get it ported over to the PS2 when Disney signed the deal with SOE. Haven't heard a peep out of either side...
Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: hal on September 19, 2006, 08:06:50 PM They all look like feet to me. (I meant that in the best possible way and stuff)
Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Signe on September 19, 2006, 09:15:58 PM Feet are wonderful. If it weren't for feet, we'd all just fall over.

Make us something shiny! Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: schild on November 14, 2006, 08:52:54 PM Congrats!
Tell Todd McFarlane to stop allowing elitist cocksucker assholes to work at Atomic Comics. The goddamn place is a cesspool. At the very least he could try and hire a funny guy who makes fun of all those assholes. Like a clown with a knife. Make good games! Kisses! Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: Signe on November 15, 2006, 05:06:53 AM Kisses? Killer clowns?
You're drunk again, aren't you??!! Title: Re: Toontown - Gardening Post by: schild on November 15, 2006, 08:43:13 PM No. I just don't like atomic comics. Yes. I might have been drinking.
