or http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-sep.mspx Nothing as dramatic as last month unless you are using Microsoft Publisher in which case there's a Critical security issue you'll probably want to get patched up. Windows is serious business. Title: Re: Microsoft's September security updates now available Post by: Signe on September 12, 2006, 10:06:38 PM Backhoes are an implement of construction destruction.

There was a really fucking depressing article in popular science about botnets, I was kind of annoyed because they left out a major part of the problem - microsoft. The word "microsoft" wasn't even mentioned at all in the article, though "windows" and "windows xp" and "internet exporer" were mentioned numerous times. They misidentified the problem, and their solution wasn't to switch or even evaluate a new operating system or web brwoser, you know, one that won't bend over and display a hole bigger than goatse to the world, their solution was "buy a firewall and buy a virus scanner!". Bunch of idiots. It sort of makes you wonder, since magazines and mainstream media seem to get things not just blatantly but spectacularly wrong, if they are equally wrong on other things. You know, things that I'm reading that very magazine to inform me of. I might just be paranoid.

I really should have written a procedure document for myself. How dorky is that? ;-) Title: Re: Microsoft's September security updates now available Post by: Miasma on September 26, 2006, 05:31:59 PM They rushed out a new patch ahead of their October schedule to fix this.
