I failed this at this test.

Nothing happening even after letting it sit for a few minutes and banging random keys. FYI typing "fuck you" didn't work either so scratch that off the list.  Wait, typing portal makes somethign happen....gimme a few.

Yeah, I got all the way to the end eventually.

It's a 50 question "application test" and there's little subliminal blips of ascii cake through out the test.  Also the fading letters that appear in the test spell out - "the cake is a lie"

I won't go into anymore detail but I will say that no matter what number or code you input at the end the result is the same...so don't bother writing down that giant code they provide as your Uni(+L) or whatever it is.

Couldn't get pass the "Unique Identity Number" screen. Because....My ID kept changing. Not fun.

Well I hate to be a cheater but...

If you Google around for info about the site you'll get some hits.  The folks over at the Valve forum have pretty much torn it apart already.  Very cool marketing idea though.

The UIN (+L) on the first screen changes. I was writing down, and got a phone call... When I went back to it, the letters/numbers I had written were different than what was on the screen.

Maybe it changes a finite number of times? Or maybe there is a sequence... Shrug, I'm too lazy to check it out.

The Matrix came out 8 years ago.

In 1999.

You were probably still in High School. The Playstation2 was announced in 1999. Half-Life 1 came out in 1998.

I'm not sure what your argument actually is, but it's wrong.

It's like saying my life was ruined by World War II.

Sup Azazel. Look at the date of my post.

It was before anyone ACTUALLY KNEW anything about Portal.

Uh.. ok. But Matrix was still 8 years ago. Hard for them to come along and suddenly wreck anything that happens nearly a decade later.

Is there any way for anyone to figure out the login and password without having to trowl forums and hope others are interested in figuring it out? That separates good marketing from annoying hacks.

And I'm specifically not looking this up because I'm trying to live it like it wasn't over a year ago. Sure the entire sequence is written down somewhere on the 'net.

I believe the username doesn't actually matter (at least for the stuff that was around when the site first went live) and the password is something pretty reasonably guessable, related to the subject at hand.  I didn't get a chance to experience it cold, but I suspect it wouldn't have taken *that* much experimentation to get past the login.  In-game there is a *specific* name and password that can be found which will reveal some additional goodies in the website.

Ah. And this was for Portal? Or was the subject changed to make it more current?

I found the name/password in Portal, it's in one of the 'behind-the-scenes' areas you can get into, written on the wall.

Nope. Fabricated just has his finger on the pulse. Or had, I think he's playing Parcheesi these days (oh snap).

All this and more can be yours in the portal spoiler thread.
