Title: Voyager vs. Energizer Bunny... 100AU and still going
Post by: Mr_PeaCH on August 15, 2006, 04:51:23 PM
http://www.planetary.org/news/2006/0815_Voyager_1_Sailing_Past_100_AU_en_route.html

I post this because a couple of years ago someone brought up the subject of "terminal shock" and I went and polled my uncle about the subject which led to some discussion here of the Voyager space probes and the like.  I honestly would have necro'd that thread if I could find it but... alas.

And no, my uncle is not Ed Stone but has been with JPL forever and was a principal for both Voyager missions and many others since.

Useless news to some.

Hopefully, one day we will be able to go pluck those probes out of space ourselves.

You know, for posterity and such.
