Title: The Den makes me sad
Post by: Xerapis on July 05, 2006, 04:15:46 AM
Because I can't post there.

Here I was, about to go to all the effort of coming up with cute little replies in every board so I could eventually hit refresh and see only my name...

And then sadly realized it could never be.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I respond too fast for you to get the desired result.

Was that a challenge?

Just wondering.

Oops!

I accidentally moved that silly football thread above my far more important Den thread.

Is there some sort of bizarre 40-man raid quest required to open the gates of the Den?

I think the secret is in the post count.

I have 11 1/2 hours to go.  Anyone care to make any guesses as to what my goal should be?

It's not the postcount. That much I know.

Well, drat.

And I believe someone recently established it's not posts per day either.

Since it's Schild's game we are playing he must be cleverly avoiding the grind-to-access route.

But has he ever been clever enough to lay out a clear alternate path?

Maybe that would hold the clue.....

Submit a review.  VD submitted crayon covered drivel, and was immediately awarded some blue goodness.  Course, she has boobs.

Or you could add more cowbell.

Well, I *HAVE* been accused of having a perty cock.  All things are considered equal here, right?  That should be boob-equivalent.

~sigh~  A review.

Of what? Any requests?

All things aren't considered equal. The review of Hello Kitty was pure genius and completely surprising. I've turned down as many things as we've posted. Which reminds me, I have to post Squirrel's new thing (sorry for the delay Squirrel).

You live in Korea right? You speak Korean? Why aren't you reviewing Korean games and posting Korean news? :P

For the rest of you, if you sent me something and didn't hear back, just send it again. kthx.

I sent you a Polaroid of my ass.

I am still awaiting my blue name.

I am not a Korean linguist.  My "mastery" of Korean extends to just enough to get me where I want to go on cab or subway rides, and get me laid.

Please realize that Korea has cable TV channels devoted to nothing but matches of Starcraft and Warcraft 3.  The other day, I saw some Korean Warcraft 3 mod game that had aliens in it.  You heard.  The ones that kept bursting out of people's chests in all of those repetitive Sigourney Weaver movies.

Seriously, their gamers are kinda scary.  They roll up in limos and walk a red carpet wearing their uniform.  You heard me, uniform.  Their coach sits on the sidelines with the rest of the team and they watch their own small monitors of the game play.  Literally hundreds or even thousands of fans are in the audience doing bizarre things like holding up rice cakes with the pro-gamers name eaten out of them.

Some of these high-level matches of Starcraft last no more than 10-15 minutes.  And I'm admittedly no RTS expert, but these guys will capitulate "GG" after what can seem like nothing more than a small setback.  They have this special Starcraft-sense active, apparently.  It must be like when a chess player can see far enough ahead in the moves that they just tip the king over even though the people watching don't see the path to checkmate.  It's kinda freaky.

Anyway, you're gonna have to find a better focus than just Korean news.  Unless you just want me to have the boyfriend do random screening just for the hell of it.  They tend to just play a lot of the same things over and over again.

In any resource gathering RTS, there's a point at which one battle is a decider.  It can be a small scrap at the beginning, or a simple creep mistake or a large messy drawn out affair with nukes, but there's always a point that you realise it's gonna be GG.

I wouldn't be surprised that these guys can see it coming a mile off.

I smell comedy.  Comedy sells.

If I were to suggest something to you, hypothetically, I'd suggest that you turn that into five or ten paragraphs and submit it.  You might roll a seven.

Seriously, their gamers are kinda scary.  They roll up in limos and walk a red carpet wearing their uniform.  You heard me, uniform.

Seriously, this could be good material.

Anyway, you're gonna have to find a better focus than just Korean news.

If you can't make it informative, make it funny.  You can't win if you don't play.

I would like to point out that I am not in charge of anything around here.

On a bizarre derail of my own thread....

Anyone else notice the interesting name of our newest member?

No.  I only pay attention to people with a certain post count.  If you would attend "the meetings", you'd know that.

You got me.  I looked.

Not subtle, is it ?

Not hardly.

Part of my weirdness.  I see a name that doesn't make normal sense and the first thing I do is read it backwards.

There are probably special tests for people like me.

Also, I would appreciate it if I could change my position from "Foozle" to "Top".

Maybe you could be grief titled "Top Foozle"  or "Foozle on Top"... I forget who you have to blo pay.

It better be pay, cause I've seen pictures of some of these people, and there ain't enough vodka on a Saturday night in Itaewon.

Top Foozle is better than Foozle on Top.

Army.  USFK J2.  CI Analysis Branch.

97B20.  Hehe...once October rolls around, no more nasty 10 levels in my MOS.  It will be happy happy days.

Of course, I only have 208 days remaining till I am free.  No I'm not doing the whole 20.  Stopping just shy of 8, but close enough to fulfill IRR obligations.

So you're not worried about DADT posting here?

So what are your chances on making E6 before you get out? What are the cut off points currently at?

Well, we'd been a star MOS for 6 since 99 when I joined, but this change to the 97B and 97E MOS currently has that shit in flux.

And frankly, I don't give a damn.  I've always had a strong contempt for those people who got the rank but never attended the school before they got out.  And being in Korea, I would turn into one of those people if I didn't decline the board :P

And no, I'm not worried about DADT posting here.

Should I be?

Credible information from a reliable source.

I don't think so.

So given you are assigned to J2 I assume you're probably doing 97G analysis work? Or do you get the ever so exciting job of processing all the SF86's for the office? LOL
God I hated those damn forms! :x

I started off as a intel geek as well before going through SFAS back in 1995.

Man you guys are almost as bad as a couple of DAOC players talking about their game, using all those arcane abbreviations.

We don't have golfs anymore, the SF86 is an EPSQ now and is much more easily done on any office computer.  And a separate security office handles those.

This is a good thing.  Cause I had to spend some time in an S2 shop right after they lifted a moratorium on periodic reinvestigations.  This is in a MI BN S2.  It was hell.  Never want to do that again.

J2 is much more fun.  Just get to do my analytical work and not worry about forms any more.

Awwww gotcha! Yeah they still had 97G's when I was in.
I feel you on the S2 shit!

Hell you want to compare scars? Prior to going through selection in '95 I was a 96B assigned to 2nd ranger bat. We didnt have EPSQ then. 10% of my time was doing actual analysis, 90% of it was typing (yes on a type writer) DD Form 398's (the old form prior to SF86's) up for the entire freaking battalion because they all had to have secret clearances.

SFAS seemed like a breeze compared to that job.
