Title: Teamspeak 4.5: Address Updated. On the regular f13 server.
Post by: schild on May 30, 2006, 04:42:32 AM
From the PC/Console Thread.

Quote
TS is being switched over to our new Gaming Server:

Server: f13.net:8767
Password: kekela

If you want your name registered just PM either Schild or I and we'll create you a login (remember to specify your pass!)

The old server will get shutdown in a week or so.

Now I can verbally yell at people about popping cans again.

I don't need to hear someone telling me to stop shooting missiles at Omber rocks.

Hmmm, does this work ?

Since getting all my teamspeaky nonsense for WoW, it'd be interesting to scream 'Wankers' at you all very loudly.

We were using it the other night in EVE. You should play and join our corp, Ironwood- we could use a another accent to decipher for fun during down times.

I can give you another accent, if you wish so.

Damm. I need more time to play EVE.

Never played EVE.  Thought about it once or twice, but I lost 16 years to Elite.  I don't wanna go down that road again.

Wait, verbally yelling? As opposed to your usual gentle inarticulate moaning?

Actually speaking gives you ++++ over Straz.

Yeah, I said four ++.

Put the Blackberry down.  That was a really unnecessary necro.

And a double post too.. woo.  I'm going to bronze this thread.

Hows the quality on TS3 as opposed to Vent?  We used Vent back in DAoC because TS was pretty crappy back then.  Changed since?

TS works fine. For a free product, I can't really complain anyway, but it is worlds better than the old days of Roger Wilco /shudder

Voice quality is shit on TS. Vent still outclasses it by a lot.

I disagree. Their Speex 12.5Kbit is pretty good. Their 25.9 sounds terrific. The only thing it's lacking is a high enough default codec. Turn up the bitrate, everyone's got bandwidth.

My guild's used GSM 16.4 for TS2 (and Speex 16.3 when we had some Mac users) for a while. Our sister guild uses Vent, and while we all sound "different" when we're on Vent, there isn't a noticeable increase or decrease in the quality of the voice.

Having met a few random old clanmates in real life, they sound like they do on TS, not on Vent. (Although apparently, Vent makes me sound a bit like Barry White, oh yeah.)

Vent must have the "de-nerd" feature which modulates people's voices down a half octave. God knows I need it, I sound about 12.

Didn't know that TS3 was realeased already? Checked their website but no downloads yet. Well I guess it's only for the paying customers then.

When comparing TS vs Ventrilo, my clan is divided. We have had a lot of discussions and now we run ... both. Ventrilo sounds better but lags more then TS, so the MMO guys use Ventrilo and the FPS dudes use TS. Myself I prefers TS and I hope the TS3 has fixed some of the strange bugs and runs better under Vista.

Made a smartass comment towards Ironwood, and then realized his comment was over a year old.

The moment has passed.

You're doing it wrong.

I actually found the snag in my setup and had my mic hooked up, but now I've got to dig up a shielded cable unless you want to hear some radio broadcast whenever I talk. Also, I'm running it out of the monitor loop of my digital recorder, so I can also play guitar directly into TS :) Or play back any recordings I'm working on that haven't been mixed down!

I'm not sure what he's doing here.  Pining after caladein's avatar, perhaps?

I wasn't able to connect to ts.f13.net over the weekend. Is the server up? What version of TS should I be using? I downloaded whatever is on the site plus the higher version .exe.

IIRC it was tied in to the TF2 server; when that went down, TS went with it. Hopefully it will be back up soon- need to chat with some folks in PotBS.
