Hi Stephen!
Edit: fixed typo, GarageGames is one word Title: Re: Need help turning your game idea into reality? Do you have $200K lying around? Post by: schild on April 19, 2006, 08:05:38 PM if I had $200,000, what would I do with a development team? Are we supposed to respond like this?
I don't know. I'd probably have them clean my house. And then have them play buggy software that's already released and yell at them and punch them in the neck. Doesn't say we have to make a game. Make them unpack that box of games you are hoarding. What the hell can anyone do in ninety days? What the fuck, I'd have them make an X-COM knockoff. With elves and ninjas for enemies. You'd play as pirates. Global map, tech trees (one elf, one ninja, one pirate), iso terrain, turn-based, destructible terrain (voxels!). That would probably only take 89 days. Post by: Trippy on April 27, 2006, 10:20:56 AM Okay it might not be Garage Games. Here's another game company in Eugene Oregon:
http://www.tesseractiongames.com/tginfo.html and their list of game credits better matches what is listed in the Q&A section of the eBay listing. Swiss cheese memory, someone call AL.

Almost brilliant. Title: Re: Need help turning your game idea into reality? Do you have $200K lying aroun Post by: Azaroth on April 30, 2006, 09:54:36 PM What the fuck?
"Give 200k to MYSTERY DEVELOPER for 90 days of development... if the game isn't completed in 90 days... heh, well, thx 4 the ca$h n shit" Title: Re: Need help turning your game idea into reality? Do you have $200K lying around? Post by: Trippy on May 01, 2006, 12:03:13 AM 90 days should be enough time to develop a demo/prototype which you could then shop around to the publishers, though.
Title: Re: Need help turning your game idea into reality? Do you have $200K lying around? Post by: Stephen Zepp on May 13, 2006, 06:21:47 PM I didn't catch this thread before, but no, it's not GarageGames.
FYI, there are actually 3 game development studios out here in Eugene, all derived from when Dynamix broke up. Tesseraction is one of them, and from what we've been able to tell are the ones that placed this advertisment/auction. GarageGames has MORE than enough things to do and not nearly enough resources to do them with--in fact, we're actively hiring experienced developers, artists, marketing, sales, and support/education individuals, as well as looking for (unpaid, except for housing) interns, if anyone is interested! I can't do any of those things, but I have some AWESOME ideas for a game. Title: Re: Need help turning your game idea into reality? Do you have $200K lying around? What the hell are you doing, putting them in a barracks? Hehe.actually, it's a quite nice quad on campus--better than some of the apartments employees have ;) And on the Garage part---in fact, our new offices (moving next month, we have 31 people squeezed into an area fit for 15 or so right now) has a 2,000 square foot warehouse, with a loading dock--so yes, there's more to Garage than a name! |
