So I want to get him a chess game, I remember something about chessmaster or something from a couple of years ago, but I really don't know. Can anyone help?

I hate the whole Chessmaster series. It's not a very 'smart' engine. It looks pretty but playing against the engine is like playing a grandmaster who's shit-face drunk. I'm not that great (fluctuate from 1350 to 1550, whatever that means in their numerology) but am always up for a game. PM me if anyone wants too sometime. Title: Re: What is a good chess game? I've been looking for a good online variant because i need to get all my rust off, but so far i've had no luck.

Go to yahoo.com, click on "Games" in the left column, and create a yahoo account if you don't have one. After that just enter one of the server halls. The competition probably isn't as good as ICC, which is GOOD for me cause I tried that for awhile and mostly got blown out. Yahoo games usually end when one side or the other forgets that a piece is under fire and pointlessly loses a rook  But its good to , as you say, get the rust out.
