Title: Geometry Wars Post by: dusematic on April 12, 2006, 06:14:39 PM I like this game, but not as much as some people. I know a guy who bought a 360 just for Geometry Wars. Check out some of this video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8318959136060982856&pl=true
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: schild on April 12, 2006, 06:27:50 PM Yes. It's a good game. Unfortunately the achievements don't work on my copy for some reason. Mayhaps I should delete and redownload.
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: dusematic on April 12, 2006, 06:33:02 PM Did you watch the video? HE GOT UP TO 7 MILLION!
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: schild on April 12, 2006, 06:34:42 PM There's a video of a guy getting 16 or 17 million on there too. Who cares?
Edit: It's like Tetris, once you're in the zone, you're in the zone. If I could get 5 million I could probably get 10 million and in turn, probably 15 million. The threshold for people breaking on XBL seems to be about 3 million. You either get a ton more than that or around that. Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: dusematic on April 12, 2006, 06:54:08 PM The ultimate high score is 33 million by the same guy of the video I just posted, but that video is 5 hours long. Not too many people can get 7 million. It's fucking hard man.
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: schild on April 12, 2006, 07:01:31 PM You read about him in the new EGM didn't you? And then felt the need to start another thread when Useless Videos still exists... Heh.
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: dusematic on April 12, 2006, 07:05:15 PM So what are you trying to say?
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: Soukyan on April 12, 2006, 08:42:14 PM So what are you trying to say? Wrong forum, brick? Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: Strazos on April 12, 2006, 08:54:15 PM So, the guy knows how to kite? Big Deal.
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: Soukyan on April 12, 2006, 08:58:54 PM So, the guy knows how to kite? Big Deal. Good point. After watching a bit of that video, it seems that the technique is just repeated ad nauseum until you run out of lives or break the game. How. Disappointing. Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: Strazos on April 12, 2006, 09:01:02 PM Actually, it seems that he may have done better if he had stuck to the edges more.
This kind of thing has been around since Madden '93, or EQ. Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: dusematic on April 12, 2006, 09:37:27 PM You guys clearly haven't played the game, and have no idea what you're talking about, sorry I posted this. I can attest to the fact that a score of over 3 million is incredibly difficult.
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: NiX on April 12, 2006, 10:00:58 PM Sticking to the edges can hurt you as much as it can help you. It does make it much easier to kite the enemies so you can drag them and kill them with backshots, but you're also stuck with the danger of respawns which come out of the corners and can catch you off guard. That's why he dies so randomly. One good seeker (the type of enemy that just b-lines for you) out of a corner can nail you without you even seeing him coming. Not to mention all the particle stuff going on.
Is there a computer version of this? Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: Strazos on April 13, 2006, 12:35:18 AM I didn't say it wasn't difficult, but it's not complicated.
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: HaemishM on April 13, 2006, 07:46:54 AM I didn't know they made a sequel to Asteroids.
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: Soukyan on April 13, 2006, 02:57:45 PM You guys clearly haven't played the game, and have no idea what you're talking about, sorry I posted this. I can attest to the fact that a score of over 3 million is incredibly difficult. Never said the game wasn't difficult. What I said was that he repeats the same tactic ad nauseum until he runs out of lives. It was mentioned that there is a 5 hour video of someone obtaining a score of 33 million. I admit that the game is damn pretty, but I don't know that I could watch 5 hours of someone else flying in wiggly circles counterclockwise. I could barely get through 5 minutes. Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: Yegolev on April 17, 2006, 08:15:14 AM Did you watch the video? HE GOT UP TO 7 MILLION! I am more impressed by the "beat Super Mario in five minutes" and "beat Zelda in fifteen minutes" videos. I have both on the TiVo unless my wife erased them. Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: Wolf on April 26, 2006, 07:33:13 AM Can anyone playing the real deal tell me how Grid Wars (http://www.incitti.com/Blitz/) from this site is different? I'm having tons of fun playing this, even though it's an obvious rip off :)
Title: Re: Geometry Wars Post by: bhodi on April 26, 2006, 05:07:14 PM the super mario 3 in 15(or so) minutes is pretty freakin amazing too.
