Title: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: dusematic on April 10, 2006, 07:59:50 PM http://www.totalvideogames.com/news/20_Titles_To_Launch_With_Revolution_9702_0_18.htm
I call bullshit. The N64 launched with two games and the GameCube had WaveRace and Luigi's Mansion. Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: schild on April 10, 2006, 08:04:53 PM You're wrong. There will be at least 50. They're underselling with 20. Remember, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD EVERY MARIO GAME EVER AT LAUNCH.

Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: schild on April 10, 2006, 08:19:53 PM Didn't he say Mario Sunshine would be awesome like 5,000 times?
Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: dusematic on April 10, 2006, 08:24:43 PM Mario 128 is really coming out you know.
Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: schild on April 10, 2006, 08:26:13 PM The New Super Adult Shapeshifting Wolfman Riding Pygmy Zelda is still a Gamecube title also.
And the DS Lite is the last portable revision. They swear! Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: dusematic on April 10, 2006, 08:27:36 PM You know something, I don't really appreciate your tone.
Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: schild on April 10, 2006, 08:33:06 PM Shiggy doesn't appreciate your pants.
Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: dusematic on April 11, 2006, 12:20:25 AM I believe he prefers to be called 'Shigsy,' that's first. And I'm not wearing any pants.
Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: HaemishM on April 11, 2006, 08:32:48 AM The downloadable games don't count as "launch titles" just like the X-Box Live Arcade stuff didn't count.
Having the downloadable titles will be good, though, and they should hammer that and the price of the console in every ad they do. Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: schild on April 11, 2006, 08:41:20 AM The downloadable games don't count as "launch titles" just like the X-Box Live Arcade stuff didn't count. I was just trying to figure out how they'd have 20 games. On that note, it's entirely possible 15 ex-Gamecube games will be Revolution titles. I suppose the 6 month gap in releases (Odama comes out today and Ninty doesn't have another real game announced til the Revo) makes it easy for people to port and then they call it an awesome launch. Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: Yegolev on April 11, 2006, 09:04:51 AM The purported ability to develop Rev games using the Cube is probably where this comes from. At some point I suspect they called up some developers and said "YOU MAKE GAME FOR LEVERUTION NOW!", which may or may not have been easy to do... I guess we will have to wait a bit before the devs can blab. Also, I agree that even if Twilight Princess hit shelves as a GC title, you are going to want to play it in the Rev. It's going to have so many Rev-specific features (like six- or twelve-months-worth) that only the poor kid in your neighborhood will play it on his Cube. Reference Oracle of Seasons/Ages with the extra store if you play it in a GBA rather than a GBC.
Twenty seems like a lot of games. I smell "Revolution Edition" copies of Popular GameCube Games. There might be nineteen Popular Games for the Cube, just add Twilight Princess and you have twenty. If they rerelease Eternal Darkness, I'll plotz, but it will probably be something like Metroid Prime and Kirby's Air Ride. Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: dusematic on April 11, 2006, 09:21:26 AM They should release a game called Gunpei Yokoi's Deep Shame: So Sorry.
Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: Merusk on April 11, 2006, 09:32:59 AM Kirby's Air Ride. Don't be dissin' Kirby's Air Ride. I hate racing games, but I enjoy playing that one with my kids. Y'know.. I just realized the whole reason I enjoy my GC more than my PS2 is I can play the games, all of 'em, with my kids or in front of 'em. Hrm. Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: schild on April 11, 2006, 09:38:09 AM Try that with RE4. And then report back on it. I bet one of them wets themself.

Something about Air Ride didn't click. I think it was the ass levels. My son is only two, but even he prefers Forza and Mario Kart DD over Air Ride. Hell, he prefers Mario Golf over Air Ride, and We <3 Katamari over anything. Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: Merusk on April 11, 2006, 10:05:29 AM Try that with RE4. And then report back on it. I bet one of them wets themself. Then I shall amend "all of 'em" to "All of 'em I care to purchase". Shooters on consoles? No, thx. Maybe if the Revolution lightgun/ wand of doom works out. Until then I need a mouse. Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: schild on April 11, 2006, 10:07:25 AM Just by saying Shooters on a Console, you're missing the point of RE4.
Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: Merusk on April 11, 2006, 10:14:42 AM No, you're mistaking my inability to even play the game for the usual "OMG console shooterz r sux" arguments.
When I say I need a mouse, I mean I need a mouse. This isn't a choice thing, I suck at aiming with those damn joypads. Even the bow and arrow shit in Zelda for the extra crap I fail miserably at. I'm not going to throw cash down on a game I won't get past the first 10 minutes of without an infuriating number of deaths. I've tried before, and simply suck beyond all previous levels of suckitude. I accept that, and just ignore those games that require it now. If it involves pointing a trigger at something and making it go BANG so you can advance, then it's a shooter as far as my shitty skills are concerned. Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: HaemishM on April 11, 2006, 12:14:17 PM I'm going to have to agree with Schild on this one. RE4 is not only not a shooter, it's a game every person who loves games should play. It's just that good.
I absolutely SUCK at console shooters. I'm not much better with a mouse. The shooting in RE4 is only marginally like a console shooter, and really, it's just not the same type of game. Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: Yegolev on April 11, 2006, 12:53:24 PM For one thing, you can't move and shoot at the same time in RE4. The nubby sticks suck, yes, but just as God of War showed everyone that it was possible to have a fixed camera that didn't work like horse shit, Resident Evil 4 shows us how to properly implement thumbstick aiming. It's a great game for the mechanics as well as all the other reasons most people talk about.
Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: kaid on April 11, 2006, 02:09:25 PM I hear that they will have a fairly large number of genesis games as well as the nintendo catelog for old games to play. Hell if I can get a system that still works that plays the snes and the genesis shadowrun I would buy it. I miss those games and my old consoles are so very dead and I am not much for grayware roms.

<offtopic> Someone needs to remake Mutant League Football imo </offtopic> Title: Re: The Revolution will not be televised! Post by: dusematic on April 12, 2006, 05:43:32 AM Would I be out of line if I said Brain Lord?

Shadowrun is now owned by Microsoft. It will not be on the Revolution. Nintendo is going to have shit for a time trying to get most of the games they, for a lack of better terms, need on the Revolution. People know 1st party stuff is coming. But is Tecomo going to allow Ninja Gaiden on there? What about Konami and Contra and Life Force? Etc, etc. |
