Title: Always on the forefront of innovation, we are!
Post by: Telemediocrity on March 24, 2006, 06:36:32 PM
Only six years or so after EQ, AC1 adds in proc effects for weapons (http://ac.warcry.com/scripts/images/view_image.phtml?id=75985&site=5) this patch.

A "Whirling staff of doom" that procs a PBAOE slashing ring.

Is this a record for "Longest amount of time taken to implement a standard MMO feature"?

AC1 had enough innovations that mocking its lack of standard features is moronic.

How many mmorpgs let you dodge arrows and magic spells?

Oh yeah.

Just to clarify:  AC1 is my favorite MMO of all time.  It's just maddened me how they coupled some crazily innovative stuff with a complete neglect of some of the basics.

For instance, "Hey, let's create a game with the most complex, engaging quests of any MMO on the market!"

Followed by "Hey, let's give 1/10th of the XP that other games would for those quests!"
