Title: Schild and others: Top 5 PSP games a 13yr-old would like.
Post by: Hoax on March 23, 2006, 09:49:38 AM
So I've got a bar-mitzvah comming up and I think your supposed to buy a present  so I'm thinking of getting a giftcard for like $54 to EB but I wanted to at least include some recommendations on what he buy.  So what're solid PSP titles that a 13yr old would appreciate?

Thanks folks.

I could recommend a whole mess of games, but let's just make this easy. Daxter, Lumines, or Daxter.

Daxter is the one that kinda rips off a few movies, right? If so, it looks like fun for anyone.

If the 13 year old isnt a wanna be fratboy douchebag, Mega Man Powered Up is a great game with tons to do.

However it is cutesy and adorable which means souless assholes who need games with rap numetal, and gangsters will hate it.

Herein lies the problem, there's a lot of games I could recommend. When i was 13 I was playing tactics stuff, strategy, sims, etc. And of course your console heavy fighting, sports, RPG, etc. sort of games. Now, if he were my regular image of a 13 year old given their desperate need to be cool, I'd tell you to get him GTA Liberty Series and never look back, even if he's not 18.

The recommendation of Mega Man Powered Up is a solid one. Also, Metal Gear Acid! 2 is great thus far. Field Commander comes out soon and that's hella good. I just started on Untold Legends 2 today and it's pretty good also, if you're in a dungeon crawling mood. And then, of course, Me & My Katamari came out this week. I think MGA2 and Mega Man Powered up are the only two games that really start to make the PSP a good system.

Anyway, say a bit more about the 13 year old and I can give you more of a solid answer.

Unfortunately I dont know the 13 year old well enough to give any kind of meaningful details on his gaming habits.  But thanks for the title advice, I just wanted to be able to recommend some purchases when I give him the money.

Xmen Legends 2 is a rather solid title on the system (control scheme works great) with some minor load issues.

The newest FIFA game is pretty solid.

Not sure about how comfortable the guy's parents are with stealthy violent games, but I hear the newest Siphon Filter is excellent.

I think a giant sackful of porn would be better recieved than any video game for a 13 year old.
