Title: Seperation of Church and State
Post by: Morfiend on March 19, 2004, 02:22:20 PM
Or wt.o and f13.net.

I thoght the forums for wt.o and f13.net where going to be sort of a seperate thing.

Quote
The sites aren’t mutually exclusive; both staffs (from Waterthread: Haemish, Fabricated and myself, from CRF: schild, Ookii, and a few others) will bleed over from time to time, both to breathe some life into each site, and because we all like games and movies.

I know its early in this sites conception and stuff, but bleeding over from time to time is a bit off. schild is still posting the same stuff in every thread that pissed a lot of wt.o'ers off to start with, Imean, if we really wanted to read that many of his posts, wouldnt we have come to f13.net to start with?

I'm not in the "schild is teh stupid" fan club, and I dont mean for this as a flame, but I would like to hear what every one has to say on this topic.

I would prefer to have one front page to rule them all, on front page to bind them...

New articles, be they about games, movies, books, or just good old-fashioned navel gazing should all be accessible from the same front page.

I am okay with the combined forums, of course, it does make the eyebrow rise that the structure is for two front pages and that seperation...

We all bitch about game devs doing this, so I'll just reiterate.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Waterthread was fine the way it was.  This f13 crap is just that... crap.

I was already to the point where I couldn't recognize about 30% of the people posting at WT, so I guess not being able to recognize 60% of them shouldn't bug me so much, but it is.  Blah.

How honest do I have to be before I get the rare privelage of being banned and put in the forum banner?

Just be your normal, endearing self; I'm sure karma will take over from there.

I've always maintained that, should my personal character be judged solely on the various flotsam and mouth-breathers who seem to loathe me, rather than my innumerable actual character flaws, I would be up for sainthood.

Thank you, sir, for revalidating that theory.

I'd be willing to venture that I'm not the only one whose bookmark went straight to the forum index, and maybe actually took a look at the wt.o front page two or three times at most.

As far as I can tell this whole move and recategorization won't do much besides add to the number of threads that I have to skip over  to find who and what I was actually interested in reading (and to let schild wield TEH ULTIMATE FORUM POWERS, I suppose, but personally I already covered in the skip over part).

After that I don't really have any significant opinion one way or the other, besides maybe that if F13 needs a mascot my suggestion is to pick this guy:

Crash, I'm presuming there are a few gimmicky accounts out there, as well as in general a few people have taken all their posting to morlocks or corp or somewhere over the rainbow.

Said by another someone I don't recognize.

Browsing over lunch hour hasn't been too kind to me...

are you done now? Meaning that can you now finally crawl off to your little cubbyhole to continue spitting in your beer... away from virgin eyes?

Carefully now, ATC,  have you ever contributed an ounce to improve the situation, at any point, or are you just shoving your big toe around demanding that someone lick it?

So, Pop's theory is that he's okay, and all the people ripping on him for not being okay are the ones with the real problems?

That's exactly the defense I was using myself againstthe #hate crew on IRC today.

Irony!

As I've said before, there are enough legit reasons for people to dislike me, that it really pisses me off when people start making shit up or make ad hominem irrational attacks against me.

Both here and Corpnews seem to feature one commonality right now....there aren't many people posting, and most of those that do are posting on a handful of threads, mostly about the WT.O fallout.

I find myself resorting to posting on the Detroit Lions messageboard, because at least there people post about something other than the sorry state of the community, and I happen to be geared up for the NFL draft this month.

At some point, either an olive branch needs to be extended between the sites, someone will create and run a totally new site that appeals to this entire community, or the community disintegrates and we all basically start actually WORKING between 8-5.

Can someone please figure out what the fuck needs to be done, so we don't get stuck with option #3???

Hint: Schild and Snow doing reviews of what they watched on TV/DVD last night isn't it.

Bring the noise.
Cheers.................

The Lions are doomed as long as Matt Millen's dumb ass is in charge of personnel decisions.
