Title: Sexism and the powers of Evil.
Post by: SurfD on May 27, 2004, 12:51:23 PM
Anyone else notice a distinct lack of female villians?

Absolutely none with the street gangs, and practically none with any of the other gangs/groups.

I mean, hell, other then one or two named bosses and the Eidolons (I think most of the vhaz Eidolons are female), I cant for the life of me remember actually seeing a female minion.

DO YOU THINK THEY SUPPORT BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF WOMEN?

My capslock key must be stuck on obvious mode.

Yes, yes, they do.   The issue's been brought up repeatedly on the beta and retail boards for some reason I cannot fathom, and each time the developers have replied that they are going to add more female supervillians to the game.

AND I SUPPOSE THERE HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN ANY FEMALE VILLIANS IN A COMIC BOOK, RIGHT?

Seems my caplocks key must have the same problem.

I'm amazed there are black gang members we are supposed to kill. Someone call the haitians!

Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?

I think some of the Clockwork are female. Hard to tell, though.

Apart from that, I agree with the lack of evil women, though there really aren't that many in comicdom, though certainly more than the 0% in CoH.

(In general, NPC women in CoH only exist to have their purses snatched. Kinda sexist.)

0% is an exaggeration, we've already covered some of the Eidolons are obviously female (or stiched together deriveratives thereof).

I understand there's some higher level female mobs as well, but I haven't run into them myself.

(And with those big heavy robes the Circle of Thorn wear, who can say?  I have seen them attempting to install souls in female citizens during dark rituals several times.)

But again, the developers said they're working to add more female supervillian foes.   In fact, I think one of the groups they're adding is exclusively female.

I know crey has women, I think the sky pirate things have women, cot who the hell knows whats under those robes, rikti um who could tell, devouring earth um who could tell.

But yes it is a little odd that there are so few female villans. Its not something I ever really noticed to much myself though.

I thought I heard something about one of the new groups in an upcoming patch (Malta Group? Praetorians?) is supposed to be an all female group.

CoT are almost all female - as evidenced by the ritual with the green smoke, where the CoT appear to be turning random civilians (generally women) into more CoT.

What sort of female-centric villain groups CAN they add?  Hot Evil Amazons you 'arrest' with velvet handcuffs?

The archvillain at the end of the Sister Psyche TF is a female member of the Freakshow.

Furlined handcuffs. And just imagine softening them up for interogation.

I knew I'd seen something on this somewhere:

They are a new enemy that you'll get in the first feature update. They are all female, and part of the ultra high-tech Malta Group.

That's all the info that's going to be released about them at this time -- sorry!

There was an all-female villain group called the Soul Scavengers that was promised, but they may have been moved until later on in the update cycle.

The story was of a magically controlled supermodel who controlled other beauty-obsessed women. We'll wait and see what it turns into.

Might just be me - but that picture looks suspiciously like a sky raider - only with a knife.

I didn't post the giant fucking robots because I didn't know they had gender and I wanted to stay on topic.

Damn you.  Now, I can't get the image of giant robots fucking out of my head.  Damn you!

Well, if it helps, I'd like to play a blaster chick in a black, white and red jester outfit named Hrlyquinnnnnn now.

To tell you the truth, you do make rather nice female characters and I kind of like the idea of that one.

Go on, then.

Mmmm, beating on female mimes. Bootylicious.

Giant robots like that make me all tingly inside.

Those giant robots would look even better encased in rock.

Oh, Schild, you might want to look out on the name of that female jester alt.  DC might have something to say about the intentional misspelling.

That's my point. Nor would I want to play anyone inspired by a Batman side arc. Harley Quinn, with apologies to Kevin Smith's child (Harley...Quinn) is one of the most uninspired piece of shit characters in a comic book. Ever.

You talking about the Harley Quinn from the Batman Animated Series? Or how they tried to bring her into the Batman comics after she was a hit on the show?

Because if it's the former, them's fighting words.

I'm still waiting for the fight.  It's unfair that you make me all excited to see a sexy man fight and then you both disappear.

Teasers.

Jebus Crisco, people!!!  A 'SEXY MANFIGHT'!!! Ok?  It is the thought of 2 men fighting that is sexy... not the individuals involved.  Just like you pervy blokes get all hot and bothered at the thought of 2 women wrestling around in mud.  I was TRYING to make fun of that concept!  Why am I explaining this?

And yes... it would be much sexier if cevik were involved... for both the women AND the men.

When a hunk of lovin' like this:

starts slappin' the men around, you can't help but to get turned on..

Two men fighting just aient unusual enough to find exceptional.   Heck, I can see them doing it just walking down a street of Paragon City.

Now if you were to glitz it up a bit by throwing them in mud with nothing but their briefs on, perhaps I could see where the attraction would be.   Granted, I don't swing that way, but I'm extending my perspective to what you're trying to get at.

Yowsa, now this is one gnarly bit of hijackery.
