Watch someone try to play Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 on the PSP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH3dc7IZVPc&search=psp%20load%20time Note: I own a PSP, this game has to have some amazingly shoddy programming or simply make the PSP do too much. None of the titles I own are anywhere near this bad. And I thought Stuntman was horrible. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Surlyboi on February 27, 2006, 06:10:01 AM Feh, serves anyone that would shell out that kinda cash for anything WWE related right. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: eldaec on February 28, 2006, 03:32:42 AM It's a console, only, you know, smaller. You can't expect much else from a platform with insufficient ram. I assume the link shows it even worse than usual (link is down atm), but this is pretty much how I feel when I am subjected to anything at all on a console. /shrug Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: schild on February 28, 2006, 04:33:12 AM Load times are definately a UMD read issue more than a RAM issue. Playing a game off the memory stick (we're talking UMD ISOs here) is about 700% faster. UMD drives suck. But then, I'm getting load screens everywhere it seems lately. I've been playing Riviera, Sigma Star Saga and something a rather else, and they all have well hidden load screens (well, 2 of them are blended into the game well). And those are GBA cartridges. Post by: WindupAtheist on February 28, 2006, 07:35:08 PM The only thing funnier than someone staring at all this loading so they can play a game, is me staring at it and not even getting to play the game. By the time the match loaded I'd be chucking the UMD in the trash and putting Lumines back in. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Paelos on February 28, 2006, 10:27:26 PM Wow, that's really awful. I remember getting pissed off at Kotor's constant loading screens for every damn room in the game, but that PSP thing makes it look tame. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: schild on March 01, 2006, 02:00:42 AM That game makes Deus Ex 2 look riveting. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Strazos on March 01, 2006, 06:44:46 AM That just seems very broken. That should get a ZERO from any site that reviews it...but it won't. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Furiously on March 01, 2006, 07:57:38 AM So is Stacy Keibler in it? Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: HaemishM on March 01, 2006, 08:20:45 AM So is Stacy Keibler in it? Looks like she was one of the loading screens. I don't get why it kept switching to loading screens for shit that was like a two second moving bitmap. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Strazos on March 02, 2006, 06:35:05 AM It had loading screens for loading screens. Incredible. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Jain Zar on March 07, 2006, 04:47:27 PM Those loading times make my old Commodore 64 with 1541 floppy drive look FAST. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Glazius on March 08, 2006, 06:37:36 AM In the same vein... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYyDkwIZbTA&search=gripshift%20WWE) Some guy plays 4 tracks (including one he creates) and a minigame in Gripshift in the time it takes Smackdown vs. Raw to put up a match. WTF mate. --GF Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Azazel on March 10, 2006, 06:09:46 AM Damn, the first one is removed Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Strazos on March 10, 2006, 06:11:02 AM You can actually watch the first one in the corner of the second video. It's there for comparison. Title: Re: Load times, good god, the load times. Post by: Azazel on March 11, 2006, 05:08:42 AM Yeah, but I wanted to read the smart-assy comments on it. Can't see 'em properly in the mini-one. |
