Title: Nathan Richardsson on MMORPG.COM Post by: Yegolev on February 23, 2006, 11:54:54 AM Some information for people interested in EVE as well as vet pod pilots here (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setview/features/gameID/14/loadFeature/452/page/1/from/), if you can tolerate the bad punctuation from the MMORPG.COM interviewer.
He talks about the Kali expansion a bit: Quote from: Nathan Richardsson Factional Warfare is something of a holy grail for many of us. We have a rich backstory which we can tap into, but we’ve always felt that we’re not fully delivering that experience into EVE. Factional Warfare enables players to fight for their factions against other players, which should in turn increase awareness of the factions and their rich story. ... The rewards for fighting in your empire’s armed forces is glory, reputation and respect. You can gain rank, medals and easier access to military issue equipment but there is very little “material” gain from fighting. ... Factional Warfare is all about conquering solar systems from the races and other factions, you are either attacking or defending and you need to balance the two. The effects of the war will start to materialize when the the solar systems start changing hands. ... Kali will have at least eight 0.0 COSMOS regions, which will constitute the base for the new Combat Boosters. ... One element which will benefit PvE players in Kali is Exploration. We’re now increasing our focus on exploration. Now, it may sound strange that in a 5000 solar system universe, exploration isn’t firmly entrenched as a feature. However, exploration in its current form more involves searching for good resources and a place to call home rather than really exploring deep space. We want players to be able to search for hidden deadspace complexes, find and excavate ancient ruins, hack into secret communications relays or steal technology assets from empire or pirate research facilities. Title: Re: Nathan Richardsson on MMORPG.COM Post by: Krakrok on February 23, 2006, 07:59:52 PM I always thought the empires felt incomplete when I first started because you run missions for your side but they don't really matter other than as a money tit. Factional Warfare sounds like one of the missing pieces for intergrating noobs into the game. Is it based on your race, or where your 'home' system is, or who your corp decides to back? Title: Re: Nathan Richardsson on MMORPG.COM Post by: Yegolev on February 24, 2006, 10:29:11 AM I am going to assume that you are not necessarily restricted to your starting race, much as you are not really restricted when taking current agent jobs.
