Honestly? I've worked with a lot of GMs, and no, they generally don't like being mean. Nobody likes going home at the end of the day feeling like shit, and no manager wants customer service reps who treat customers like shit. But if we're being jaded, yes, the industry is geared toward lording over customers for the sadistic pleasure of the game's evil rulers.
