Title: So I started up again

2 months on, 2 months off it seems.

Basically, I want to see some of the high end raid stuff since it's what I've left in WoW undiscovered.

I have a 60 rogue, a 48 mage, and a 48 shaman that I will probably be playing.

Should I level the mage and shaman up or just try and get into a guild and do raids with the rogue?  Main reason I stopped the rogue was because no one wanted a rogue in their group.

its not that nobody wants a rogue in a group. its that you can't throw a rock without hitting 10 of them. If you want groups galore play a healer type hehe any healer type.

Healers are fun in underpowered five man groups and PvP. Otherwise they're terminally boring, hence the dire shortage, and high demand. If you're going to start from scratch, I bet you'd have more fun with a warrior. There's lots of them, but they take close attention to play well, so most of them are shite. Good warriors are as in demand as healers. Because mage itemisation sucks, they have high churn rates in raid guilds. You could safely level your mage and get into raids. Mages are one of the more fun classes in raids, as they have a number of roles to play.

Yeah I was going to say go with the mage as well.  Actually, WoW being as melee-centric as it is all Cloth-types are in demand, but primarily healers & mages.  (at least for Alliance on my server.)

That might go for alliance, but horde side shamans are as common as rogues so "any healer" class doesn't cut it anymore.  Warlocks, Priests and Druids pretty much have open doors into any high end guild, at least on my server.

By the time someone is able to get to 60, the warlock part of that will no longer be the case.  Right now warlocks are a dime a dozen in 40-49 (thanks to all the "ZOMG TOO UBEAR!!" posts), in a month you'll be overrun with warlocks in the 60s bracket.

8 of the 15 alliance in AB last night were warlocks (seriously)..

I am currently specced something like 12/4... I like a lot of the talents in Affliction for PvE, currently working on Fel Concentration... current tactic for a lot of the stuff I'm fighting now has my Imp out, and me 'drain tanking'.  Being able to channel life drain is pretty useful, with weakness up on the enemy, and my normal ~30-35% reduction from armor+demon armor.  I can't exactly out-tank my VW, but I can stack dots when I pull, then let dots and imp do DPS, and come out further ahead than using my VW, for most enemies in the range I've been fighting lately.  Again, only just reached mid-20's, in part due to truly casual playstyle, and some alt-itis*.

I have yet to figure out how to use fear in PvE without getting at least one, and likely more than one, additional enemy.  I do use it from time to time, to give me time to heal/bandage/whatever, but I pretty much expect to have more than one enemy come back.

*Made a human paly on another server.  It's actually pretty fun... Just have to understand you are a healer who can kinda melee, not a melee who can kinda heal.  I need the ability to spit on enemies from further away...  tho the 'get close and jump' pulling tactic I've been using seems to work pretty well... not as well as ranged attacks my other guys have.

There is one slight bug at the moment that can cause rogues some extra grief with huntes. Basically if you tell your pet to attack a rogue and they vanish right after the command is given often times the pet continues to go after and or chomp the hell out of said vanished rogue.

Hehe this gets my rogue friend swearing in team speak alot when hunters do this to him again and again. Still if you can sneak up close to a hunter without being seen a rogue likely will own the hunter.

Warriors are good at bulling their way into melee contact with hunters and are very nasty to fight.

Priests I have never had to much problem with nor mages and warlocks are pretty easy bait.

Combined very long range high damage powers and a burly pet warlocks generally go down pretty rapidly although their lifecoil does help this issue to some extant.

If you want to play your rogue, do it for pvp and never look back. Play it well too, meaning work with other rogues, form strike squads and systematically hassle your opponent by stealing nodes in AB, GY's in AV, and raping casters in WSG.

All I'll say is it's tougher than you think.  All we really have over anyone else is our burst damage and our stealth.

Stealth is fucked in so many ways right now it's not funny.  Especially for PvP.

However, putting rogues entirely to one side :  Hunters ARE overpowered at the moment.  Sorry if you disagree and whatnot, but the last patch really put them right up there.  In BG NE hunters are even worse since they and their pet are invisible.  Traps similarly are far, far, far too easy to bring off 1v1.

What Ironwood said. I've found that in pvp playing a warrior is more fun than playing a rogue... people are very paranoid about stealthers, warriors can hit just as hard as rogues, have plate armor and have one of the best pvp debuffs in the game with mortal strike. Before deathcoil, warlocks used to be easy kills, now my warlock can hold his own against an *undead rogue*.

You still kick priest ass though (esp if you're UD), and can tear up mages provided they already used nova and/or blink (which is common in battlegrounds). Crippling poison is also invaluable in WSG.. and in AV, it's all about the stealth ninja teams.

Maybe PvP gets harder after level 52 then. I'll admit that in Blizzard forum fanboi "STFU noob, you aren't 60 and don't have a full tier 2 epic set" terms, I'm not qualified to speak. It's the easiest character I've PvP'd with besides my Shaman. However, there's nothing "all we have" about either burst damage or stealth.

Considering that I find shaman, rogue, druid and warlock to be more effective all-round PvP classes than a hunter, its difficult for me to say whether a hunter is overpowered. It could be that priest, warrior, mage and paladin are underpowered. It could be I just find the other classes easier to play because of some playstyle thing. Hunters are staggeringly powerful in group PvP if folks look after them, or if they use allies positioning to their advantage. That's when they become stupidly powerful. Traps, not so much. Yes, they're fucking annoying to be on the receiving end of, but they're no worse than the shit other classes can pull out their arsenal. Hunters are also horrible equipment whores just like warriors. A hunter with green items is a joke. A hunter with purple items is a one man army.

All I can tell you is that I'm more successful in PvP with other classes, and rogue is near the top (but a country mile from Shaman).

I ran into a guy in my local gaming store/net cafe who mentioned he's made 'hundreds of dollars' powerlevelings characters.  Looked to be late teens/early 20s, and not likely to be university material.  I've certainly worked jobs where I get paid to do boring, repetitve tasks.  Wonder what he was making per hour, in general?
