Title: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Sairon on January 20, 2006, 02:19:11 PM http://www.brownharrisstevens.com/detail.aspx?id=364979 I'm in fact looking for an apartment, but for some reason I don't think my bids would be accepted

Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: schild on January 20, 2006, 02:30:10 PM I want that apartment for the sweet view of the world trade center.

It was 80M when there was a skyline. Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Paelos on January 20, 2006, 05:21:51 PM That's the most useless waste of money on real estate I've ever seen. You can buy your own 30 acre island off the coast of Italy with a villa twice the sqare footage for a fraction of that price.
I'd much rather have this, thanks. (http://www.privateislandsonline.com/gallinaro.htm) Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Samwise on January 20, 2006, 06:07:02 PM Holy crap. If you do a search on that site by price, some of those islands are actually affordable by mortal men. There are islands in the Phillipines that can be bought for the price of a new car. And islands off the coast of Canada that can be bought for the price of a really nice new car.
Wow. Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Merusk on January 20, 2006, 06:31:27 PM I want Monkey Island (http://www.privateislandsonline.com/monkey.htm)

Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Samwise on January 21, 2006, 11:55:53 AM If it hadn't already been sold I'd seriously consider buying that thing. It sounds gorgeous and it's actually affordable. Sure it'd sabotage my plans for buying a house, but I'd get to own an ISLAND. With MONKEYS!

If you do a search on that site by price, some of those islands are actually affordable by mortal men. There are islands in the Phillipines that can be bought for the price of a new car. No power, no water, no sewage, no telephone, no medical care and pirates. Where do I sign up for this wonderful deal? Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Righ on January 21, 2006, 08:52:13 PM I want Monkey Island (http://www.privateislandsonline.com/monkey.htm) Indeed, or Gilligan's Island (http://www.privateislandsonline.com/gilligans-island.htm) or Treasure Island (http://www.privateislandsonline.com/treasure_island.htm). Post by: El Gallo on January 23, 2006, 02:01:35 PM That's pretty awesome. I'd rather have the best penthouse in NYC than a nice island somewhere, because it's in NYC and not the middle of goddamn nowhere. Of course, better still would be a $35M penthouse in NYC and a $35M island retreat. Come on Powerball!
Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Yegolev on January 23, 2006, 02:26:04 PM If I had that sort of money, I would not waste it on an apartment. The island is tempting, but I need DSL. And, oh, medical services are kinda nice. I think I would buy more land around my current house so as to prevent further incursion by developers. Maybe a nice wall next to the highway, too. Barbed wire. Armory. Bomb shelter. Maybe even a pool for my family.
Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Righ on January 23, 2006, 02:28:41 PM I's rather have enough money to move NYC to an island retreat. You'd all be welcome to visit me in my plush Hudson Valley home.

Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: schild on January 23, 2006, 02:39:15 PM There's no amount of money that could get me living in NYC. London, Rome, Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, San Francisco - sure. NYC? Not a fucking chance. NYC smells like death to me.
Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Samwise on January 23, 2006, 02:53:05 PM I don't think the stench would manage to get up to that altitude. And it's not like you'd ever have to leave.

Post by: TheTijuanaBrass on January 23, 2006, 03:45:11 PM If you're not intending to leave you might as well build yourself a mansion in some appropriately awesome place for that kind of money. My choice would be somewhere in the alps.
Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Murgos on January 23, 2006, 04:08:40 PM You only spend that kind of money on a condo if you can afford for that to be your home only when your in NYC to, you know, stop off to catch a flick or something in between killing bears on kodiak island and jetting down to watch your horses race in the Kentucky Derby as a break after overthrowing a few small third world nations to create a market for one of your smaller companies products.
Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Merusk on January 23, 2006, 08:16:09 PM I thought Cheney had a house in Texas, though.
Title: Re: Looking for a new apartment? Perhaps I can intrest you in this one... Post by: Righ on January 23, 2006, 09:09:04 PM Well yeah, they got him the estate in Texas too. So, apart from the pad in NYC, the lodge on Kodiak Island, the plantation in Kentucky, a few small third world nations and the estate in Texas, what else have the Haliburtons done for Cheney?
