Title: Employee Discount Abuse! Post by: schild on December 02, 2005, 06:43:10 PM Does anyone here work for:
An audio company for receivers, amplifiers and stuff? My Integra 7.2 is dying and I'm going to sell it on Ebay while it still works. Yay! A company that makes PDA phones or a cell phone service provider? (specifically Verizon or TMobile for PDAs/Sidekicks) Cell phone is finally on it's last legs. After 18 phones and 6 years, I've managed to run out of service plan replacements. Yahoo. A company that makes tablet PCs? Seriously. Notes and shit. Yea, morals be damned and whatnot, but I have some stuff that needs replacing and I don't know anyone who works at Best Buy or CompUSA out here to get in on such a thing. I also know it's the time of year where employee purchase plans get kickass (3 weeks before christmas) with employee appreciation days and accomodations from companies looking to dump inventory before 2006 electronics roll out in huge amounts. Feel free to PM me about the above and anyone else looking for shopping help is free to post here. Oh, and this is all for personal use not resale. Title: Re: Employee Discount Abuse! Post by: Pococurante on December 02, 2005, 07:42:52 PM I thought *you* worked for Best Buy at one point. Neh?

In 1998-2003. Title: Re: Employee Discount Abuse! Post by: Nebu on December 03, 2005, 01:59:14 AM This place (http://www.audiogon.com/) is what you want. I'd much rather almost any piece of used gear here over most things you can buy at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.
Depending on your budget, Underwood Wally (http://www.underwoodhifi.com/index.html) has done some very good deals for me. If you have a specific piece of gear in mind, send me an AIM or PM. I still have some connections I can tap into for you. EDIT: on a side note, I worked at Best Buy in the early 1980's when they were a small chain in Minneapolis and sold just audio and car stereo gear. I really should have taken advantage of the stock purchase when I had the chance, but I was unimpressed by the management and never thought they'd survive until the 1990's. Shows you what I know. You are knowingly selling damaged goods. Title: Re: Employee Discount Abuse! Post by: Strazos on December 03, 2005, 01:22:32 PM I'm somehow not suprised.
And 18 phones in 6 years? That's roughly 3 phones a year. I've had 2 in 5 years. Don't be so heavy-handed with your stuff, and it might last a bit longer. Title: Re: Employee Discount Abuse! It would be if it weren't still under warranty. Someone, like an Ebay reseller, will be able to get a $1200 receiver, pretty cheap and get it fully refurbished and/or replaced with something newer. It's actually a keen deal for someone with patience. Unfortunately, I don't have such patience as it drives all my gaming systems. I can't be without an amp for 3-6 weeks. Straz, as for the 18 phone thing - I worked at Best Buy. Service plan was a couple dollars. 90% of those phones were returned to Best Buy when they had the slightest inkling of a problem. I've only once had a cell phone I liked. And it's ironically the only one that ever actually broke in a situation beyond my controller. It was in my pocket and I was walking through a Wherehouse Music or someshit in Georgetown, I bumped into a shelf. Well, turns out I didn't "bump" into the shelf, but there was an exposed nail and it was driven through the screen of the phone. Maybe I've got some stored up karma or something doesn't want me suing a record store into oblivion - but my phone, the only phone I ever liked, was destroyed in a CD store that charged too much for bad music. I use the opportunity to get rid of contacts I don't talk to anymore. It works. Title: Re: Employee Discount Abuse! I KNEW IT!!! :nda: I killed my controller in a fit of rage. The government was not amused. |
