If you have any interest in this  weird game:  (http://www.roma-victor.com/community/bb/viewtopic.php?p=98511#98511)

As some of you spotted from my sneaky edit of the front page yesterday, we have a new, and final, schedule and pricing plan. I'll be updating the VERM and status pages shortly.

In order to create an account valid for post-launch Roma Victor players will require a valid Account Key.

Launch
Account Keys for Roma Victor will be made available for online purchase as of the Kalends of April 2006. Account Keys will cost £19.98 (inclusive) and £10's worth of Sesterces will be allocated to the account as soon as it is created.

Preorder scheme
Some time around the Ides of December 2005, Roma Victor Account Keys will be made available to a limited number of Preorder customers served on a first-come, first-served basis.
Preorder customers will pay £14.98 for an Account Key that will be valid at launch. As well as being allocated £5's worth of Sesterces, Preorder customers will also be granted immediate access to the Commercial Test programme. There is one other notable incentive for Preorder customers but more on that below.

VVT
For some there is one additional option known as the Veteran VERM Testers (VVT) scheme whereby existing testers from the Commercial Test that have helped us with the VERM will be given a free Account Key at launch.

Pre-launch Exclusive Fortnight
There is one final additional bonus for Preorder customers and testers qualified for the VVT scheme. The final post-release game servers and game world will be brought online on the Ides of March 2006. Only accounts created with Preorder and VVT Account Keys will be able to access the server for two whole weeks. Only come the Kalends of April will the game become available to customers from the broader general public.

And in case you've just arrived in our universe:
Roma Victor does not require a monthly subscription fee!

There will be one final sweep of existing GOCaT/Commercial Test applications and we will try and bring as many people into the test as possible - this is likely to happen within the next few days.

So there you have it. I would once more like to thank all the contributers, testers and community members for helping make this ambitious project possible. It's been a long hard slog but it looks like we're finally getting there.

I've never fancied giving pre-orders and testers additional boons in form of in game advantages. I don't know the particulars of Romar Victor, but if it's progression based in the same fashion as most MMORPGs are today, then 2 weeks head start will be crucial if you're going hardcore.

The only thing that concerns me is this 'sesterces' thing.

According to Google, it's a reference to a small silver coin used in the Roman era, originally worth about 1/4 of a days' wage for a laborer...  Or approximately 2.5 asses.  Somehow, a game using currency whose value is measured in asses seems... appropriate, especially if it's just another level grind.  This idea of getting some amount of in-game money with a key purchase, and there being no monthly fee, reminds me of MTGO's system.

Actually, it first made me think of Entropia, where you can't do much more than farm sweat without putting up real money.

Since the metric for measuring the amount of cash you get with your pre-order is real money, I think we can assume this game will have the exact same buisness model as Project Entropia..

The key issue is if they allow people to remove money from the system.

Also its very hard to tell the value of thing with this.  How long would $10 bucks last a "20 hour a week" player?  In PE, $10 bucks was an evenings worth of play. In Puzzle Pirates, it was a couple months.  There is a big difference in the value, fun issues asside.

I was supposed to have gotten beta keys for this game a long while ago, but never heard back. Since the model is pay for your gold AND they never got back to me, fuck it. I'm not really going to worry about this game.

/imagines what would happen if HaemishM got the beta key.
C'mon get it and don't forget to pay them at last 20€ during your 'testing', frontpage needs meat:)

I was accepted into their test program quite some time ago, but the client was bugged so that I was unable to even create a character. In their defense, I haven't tried it again for several months so I'm thinking that perhaps that problem is fixed. Interesting way to do a rolling start though.

Client doesn't support character creation, afaik :-D
In other words - it's not a bug, it's a feature:)

frontpage needs meat:)

Someone needs to fuck up in a new and interesting way. I mean comeon, someone needs to do something super shortbus between now and two years from now when DC, Marvel, and NCSoft have a cage match.
