OK, even though I understand the physics behind that first one, it was extremely eerie to see it in effect!

Why wouldn't it work for someone?  After all, the green "dot" is just the after-image from the pink dots.

Weird stuff.

It leads me to ask the question,"Who works on stuff like this and figures out how they work?"

You'd have to know a lot about how color and shape is processed by our eyes and mind.

No, the creepy part isn't that there's a green dot, it's that all the pink dots dissapear and the *only* thing you see is the green dot.  Which doesn't really exist, while the pink ones do.

That was great!  I got it to work pretty quickly and laughed at the effect.  Now I'm trying to convince myself that I understand the physiology of it all.

Wow, I agree with Toast.  That's one of the best ones I've ever seen. It was so cool to watch the pink dots disappear one after the other leaving only the green dot, which really isn't there!  I freaked out my co-workers once again! Thanks Fabricated!  :D

I cna't get the snakes to move. I've seen that before and it worked then..weird. Maybe my brain has evolved.

I dunno how the brain perceives imagined colors since that green dot doesn't really exist, but the hue of green I see looks like it fits well within the range that a colorblind person couldn't see.

I can't get all the pink dots to disappear.  Some of them will go away for a bit, but they come back.  Why, I'm not sure.

It may have something to do with variance in vision refresh rates.  I know not all animals have slow enough rates to really see the images on TV, most are fast enough that they see the refresh bars go by and don't get it.  I'd assume a similar variance in humans... Tho I don't have any problems watching TV, I can occasionally detect some choppiness in movies, which have a lower framerate.

The dots will also come back if you move your eyes, even a little bit.  Maybe your eyes are a bit twitchier than most?

I had the same problem at first. I just kept gettling my face closer to the screen, and that helped.  I have the 'twitchy eye' problem samwise mentions, and all of the 'focus on' things always screw me because of it.

Man, you can tell this started as a board about online games.

Nerf those damn dots, I can't get rid of them all...
