Title: BF2: Anyone have an a good guide on how to fly?

That or what I need to do to get the controls not so freaking sensitive or joystick support?  This is worse than Planetside mouse flying.

I just hooked-up the joystick.  I still suck because it's too damn fast for such a small map.. "there's the han... damn there it goes.. let me just turn ..intothatmounta"*boom*

I used to be a pilot in '42, but I can't get it working with BF2. Gamepad's a bit touchy, but more than that, the controls just annoyed me. I had to use the keyboard/mouse in PS, too, the controls just didn't map well to flying in that game (imo).

As much as I love the logitech wireless gamepad (2), it needs more buttons. I was spoiled by my old thrustmaster firestorm with dual triggers AND four shoulder buttons. That was a great controller (dern wires).

At least Merusk sounds better than me...in copters I'm like samprimary, in jets I don't even know what I'm doing wrong. At first it's just like old times, liftoff, bank gently toward target...oh wait I'm upside down...splash.

Using a joystick is a must!

It really just a takes a lot of practice. If you get good at helicopters you can be a one man killing machine, taking out tanks and running down ground troops... but that's why it's hard. Certainly do not try to fly helicopters without a joystick, though the jets are a bit easier to do with the mouse/keyboard. I just don't think you can react quickly enough with a mouse/keyboard unless you have a ton of practice with it - the movements aren't very natural and won't be second nature when you are in a bind.

I haven't played since the BF2 demo came out - have they fixed most of the issues the release version had? I might have to go pick it up now if that's the case.. though I should really boycott EA.
