Title: For $14.95 this is much better than an MMORPG: Gametap. Post by: schild on October 17, 2005, 06:15:41 PM Gametap is $14.95 a month. (http://www.gametap.com/home/game_titles/index.jsp)

(http://www.gametap.com/home/game_titles/index.jsp) Except that I already have pretty much all the games listed there in ROM format already. As for the PC games, most of the PC games listed are at the very least 2 or 3 years old. I figure if I hadn't played them by now then such is life. Now a service whose stock in trade is games that are 6 months to a year old? Sure, I can see it. I can't see paying $16 a month for a glorified version of MAME and access to an extremely limited selection of past their prime PC games, however. Not that the list was that good.

To elaborate, I didn't see anything on that gametap page that would make me want to subscribe. There's a few MMORPGs I'd actually pay money for. You're stretching with a bad punchline. Blame Gulp for being profound. Of course we have fucking roms! And no, games aren't going to be on the goddamn thing 6 months after release! Particularly not titles you might want to play. Bleh. That game ruled, although the arcade version was much better than the Sega Genesis version.
When I was an undergound people must have thought I was insane because I spent a lot of time in the computer lab playing Gain Ground, Super Baseball 2020 (Neo Geo), the translated Feda:Emblem of Justice and other such gems... $15 for Gain Ground and Phantasy Star 2 is better than a month of WoW, that's for sure. You know, the investors that gave them money and actually thought the product they were paying for was real.

Atari has been running their service for a while now. Especially "Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo" is recommended while waiting for the next Elder Scrolls game.Title: Re: For $14.95 this is much better than an MMORPG: Gametap.
